Account Executive, Advertising Solutions (Quests) - East

We are looking for a Account Executive to join as a founding member of the sales team for our new Gaming Marketing Solution business line.  We are seeking an individual who is passionate about games, the game industry, and helping game companies market to the players who are most passionate about their games. This is a global role where you will be working in a zero to 1 environment to build up and grow a new, and fast-growing business line at Discord.  You will harness your prior experience in advertising/media/marketing spaces and bring a combination of strategic business thinking, industry relationships, product insights, and an ability to build a significant, recurring book of business with clients.

You will report into the Director of Sales, Gaming Advertising Solutions and support the East region. This hire must be based on the East Coast, however, there is no in-office requirement

What you'll be doing

  • You will be responsible for identifying client’s marketing needs 
  • You will develop solutions/proposals for your clients that deliver value against those needs
  • In order to hit revenue and account goals, you will be:
    • Prospecting and sourcing new marketing opportunities with game publishers, studios, and their media agencies
    • Building & deepening relationships with key game publishers and their media agencies
    • Negotiating & closing opportunities
    • Helping clients achieve business and marketing goals via Discord’s solutions. 
  • You will deploy and execute effective and repeatable sales motions. You will apply an account planning process to prioritize accounts, grow revenue, educate clients, lead strategic client conversations, and navigate complex relationships.
  • You will create and convey compelling sales presentations and proposals utilizing internal and external data.
  • You will become an expert in Discord solutions and adapt recommendations to suit varying client needs
  • You will be responsible for consulting with clients and in order to advise them on their strategic marketing and media plans and how Discord solutions contribute to their plans
  • You will demonstrate expertise around the gaming, media, marketing, and advertising spaces to clients, within Discord, and in industry forums.

What you should have

  • 4 years of direct experience in media buying, brand marketing digital advertising, and ad sales in the gaming industry 
  • Proven experience in delivering against account and revenue goals
  • Experience in managing gaming clients throughout the funnel with a deep understanding of their challenges and objectives
  • Experience in building relationships with top marketing decision-makers at game publishers and their agencies
  • Ability to analyze data and identify insights to assess campaign performance
  • Ability to proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve quickly and through the proper escalation channels
  • Experience with marketing and ad technology ecosystem including ability to collect and convey product needs as well as working cross-functionally to diagnose and solve technical problems for clients
  • Experience in negotiating and structuring standard and non-standard ad-buying agreements
  • Willingness to travel for regional in-person client meetings

The total annual target compensation range for this full-time position is $183,350 to $320,850 + equity + benefits. Our compensation ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the OTE (base salary + target variable compensation) only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
