Senior Learning Experience Partner
Discord is used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does on our platform: play video games. Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games.
The Learning Experience (LX) team at Discord creates learning experiences that empower Discordians to grow, lead, and thrive. We blend learning science, design thinking, and Discord's unique culture to drive personal and organizational success. We're the team that makes sure every Discordian—from their first day to their leadership journey—has the tools and knowledge they need to do their best work.
We're looking for a Senior Learning Experience Partner to join our team and lead transformational learning initiatives across Discord. Your first quest? Reimagine and drive our company-wide onboarding program. But that's just the beginning. We need someone who approaches challenges with curiosity, designs with intention to solve real problems, and builds programs that create lasting impact—including initiatives we haven't even imagined yet.
The work will naturally require regular presence in our San Francisco office - you'll be there when onboarding cohorts run and for other key in-person learning moments. We trust you to balance office time with the rhythm of our programs.
This position is US-based only. We are seeking candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
What You'll Be Doing
- Company-wide Onboarding Program: Design, implement and iterate a scalable onboarding experience that accelerates new hire impact and their sense of belonging at Discord (requires regular on-site facilitation in our SF office).
- Design New Learning Programs: Partner with the Learning Experience Manager and senior leadership to spot problems and build learning solutions that actually work—expect to launch 2-3 major programs a year.
- Partner with Leadership: Be the learning expert that senior leadership turns to when their teams need help performing better, collaborating more effectively, or taking on new challenges.
- Cross-functional Project Delivery: Lead complex learning initiatives from kick-off to launch and involve multiple teams—from figuring out what's needed to delivering something people actually use.
- Data-Informed Insights: Track whether programs deliver impact, change what doesn't work, and double down on what does—all informed by data.
- Facilitate High-Impact Sessions: Run learning experiences for leadership teams, all-hands workshops, and other moments where getting it right really matters.
- Build Learning Systems That Scale: Create the playbooks, templates, and processes that let great learning happen consistently across Discord without you having to be in every room.
- Innovation & Experimentation: Test new ways to help people learn and grow—whether that's new tech, different methodologies, or approaches we haven't tried yet.
What you should have
- 6+ years of experience in L&D, organizational development, or related field, with 3+ years independently leading enterprise-level learning initiatives
- Demonstrated experience designing and launching comprehensive onboarding programs that improved new hire time-to-productivity and retention metrics in organizations of 800+ employees
- Track record of partnering with senior leadership to identify team challenges and develop learning solutions that improved performance metrics and employee engagement scores
- Experience managing complex, multi-month learning projects (e.g., onboarding, leadership development, enablement, team effectiveness) with 5+ stakeholder groups, overseeing budgets, vendor selection, delivering on time and achieving target adoption rates
- Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., WorkRamp, Cornerstone) and experience implementing digital learning tools (e.g., Notion, Articulate, Genially, Loom) to scale program delivery
- Strong facilitation skills with experience leading sessions from small team workshops to 200+ person all-hands, including executive team sessions
- Proven ability to create scalable learning systems and resources that enable consistent delivery across multiple teams and facilitators
- Experience using data analytics to measure program effectiveness, build reports on learning outcomes, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
- Demonstrated success working in fast-paced environments where priorities shift quickly, with ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality standards
Bonus Points
