We are seeking an experienced Director of Sales, EMEA to join our growing gaming sales team at Discord. This role is perfect for someone passionate about the gaming industry in Greater Europe & burgeoning/growth adjacent territories in the region. who is eager to help gaming companies connect with their most dedicated audiences across the region.

The expected outcomes for this position in year one are: 

  • Achieving revenue quotas
  • Building the inaugural Sales Team in EMEA
  • Creating a vision, multi-year plan for sustainable growth within the territory, starting with the gaming vertical and expanding into other areas

This is a regional leadership role where you will work to expand our established gaming sales business across EMEA markets. You will leverage your prior experience in gaming, advertising, and media spaces within the region, bringing a combination of strategic business thinking, industry relationships, product insights, and an ability to build a significant, recurring book of business with clients.

What you'll be doing:

  • You will be responsible for hitting revenue and account goals by:
    • Prospecting and sourcing media buying opportunities with game publishers, developers, & platforms as well as their respective media agencies across EMEA
    • Building & deepening relationships within the gaming industry with executive stakeholders & key decision makers at the brand direct and agency levels
    • Helping clients achieve business and marketing goals via Discord's ad solutions
    • Building and scaling a best-in-class sales team within the gaming vertical across EMEA
  • You will define and execute effective and repeatable sales motions and operational processes tailored to EMEA markets. You will apply an account planning process to prioritize accounts, grow revenue, educate clients, lead strategic client conversations, and navigate complex relationships.
  • You will create and convey compelling sales presentations and proposals utilizing internal and external data relevant to EMEA gaming audiences.
  • You will become an expert in Discord solutions and adapt recommendations to suit varying client needs within diverse EMEA markets.
  • You will be responsible for consulting with clients and contributing to marketing and media plans that enables them to reach their target gaming audiences on Discord across EMEA.
  • You will demonstrate expertise around the gaming, media, and marketing spaces to clients, within Discord, and in industry forums throughout the region.
  • You will manage and grow a team of Account Executives and Account Managers focused on the EMEA gaming vertical.

What you should have:

  • 10+ years of direct experience in ad sales and sales leadership in the gaming industry with significant experience in EMEA markets
  • Experience in managing gaming clients throughout the funnel with a deep understanding of their challenges and objectives within EMEA
  • Experience in building relationships with top marketing decision-makers at gaming companies and their agencies across multiple EMEA markets
  • Ability to analyze data and identify insights to assess campaign performance
  • Ability to proactively troubleshoot and problem solve quickly and through the proper escalation channels
  • Experience with marketing and ad technology ecosystem including ability to collect and convey product needs as well as working cross-functionally to diagnose and solve technical problems for clients
  • Experience in negotiating and structuring standard and non-standard ad buying agreements in accordance with regional requirements
  • Experience in growing, mentoring, and managing sales teams across multiple countries
  • Fluency in English, with additional European languages a plus
  • Willingness to travel within the EMEA region
