Systems Administrator

Hybrid-Atlanta

About Ditto:

Ditto is on a mission to unleash the full power of edge devices by removing all the plumbing required to build amazing applications. We bridge the digital divide by enabling real-time data synchronization—even when internet connectivity is limited or non-existent. Our peer-to-peer technology is trusted by major customers like Chick-fil-A and Delta Airlines, and we also work closely with the U.S. military on mission-critical connectivity solutions. As a fast-growing startup poised for a future IPO, our team is globally distributed, and our core values are trust, communication, and continuous improvement. We celebrate diversity and strive to create a team that encompasses a wide range of backgrounds, skill sets, and perspectives.

Our challenge for you:

We’re a fast-growing startup with big ambitions. While this role will support our entire global workforce, it will be hybrid in Atlanta in order to provide mission critical on-site support for our Krog Street Market office location and mesh lab. We are a Google Workspace and predominantly macOS shop (95%+ of our user base) and leverage dozens of SaaS platforms to drive our development and operations. We’d also like to drive efficiencies on that front.

With growth comes complexity, and we’re looking for a hands-on Systems Administrator who will own our IT infrastructure end-to-end and partner with our Service Desk team to support the organization. This is a pivotal role for someone excited by the challenge of building scalable IT processes in a dynamic startup environment. Take on this challenge with the flexibility of a hybrid role where you are in-office 2-3 days per week, and remote the other days.

Responsibilities

1) End-User Device Management

  • Bring laptop imaging, provisioning, and inventory management in-house.
  • Select, implement and maintain MDM solutions (e.g., Jamf, Kandji) to ensure secure and efficient deployment of macOS devices.
  • Manage a small percentage of non-Mac devices, including troubleshooting and patching.

2) Infrastructure & Office Management

  • Maintain on-premise Linux servers in our Atlanta office, primarily supporting CI/CD pipelines and engineering test environments.
  • Oversee networking (Wi-Fi (UniFi), VPN, and firewalls) and infrastructure in both offices to ensure reliability and security (UniFi access and security systems).
  • Coordinate with engineering and ops teams for hardware-related needs in the Atlanta test lab.

3) SaaS Administration & Integrations

  • Manage user provisioning, access, and integrations across dozens of SaaS applications (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Evaluate, select, and implement an identity and access management solution, such as Okta, Jumpcloud, or similar.
  • Maintain accurate license counts, monitor usage, and optimize costs.

4) Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain Bash or other scripting languages (Python, Ruby, etc.) to automate routine tasks such as user provisioning, system updates, and monitoring checks.
  • Implement scripts to streamline CI/CD workflows, improve system reliability, and reduce manual interventions.

5) Security & Compliance

  • In partnership with our Security & Compliance team, implement best practices for device security, data protection, and network security.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant frameworks (SOC 2, ISO27001, etc.) as we scale.
  • Own patch management, endpoint security solutions, and incident response for the organization.

6) IT Support & Troubleshooting

  • Complement our Service Desk team by providing more advanced tier 2 & 3 technical support to employees.
  • Establish and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common issues to minimize downtime and enhance self-service.
  • Track and resolve tier 2 and 3 support tickets with a focus on reducing recurring problems.

7) Strategic Planning & Scalability

  • Work cross-functionally to define long-term IT strategy that aligns with rapid company growth.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and integrate new tools, processes, and technologies to keep our environment modern, efficient, and secure.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a Systems Administrator or similar IT role, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Federal experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Expertise with macOS: imaging, deployment, troubleshooting, and MDM solutions (Jamf, Kandji, or equivalent).
  • Solid Linux server administration skills: provisioning, monitoring, patch management, scripting/automation, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of networking:  VLANs, VPN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, QoS, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Experience managing on-prem CI/CD or other engineering-related servers (Linux, Mac, or mixed environments).
  • Proficiency with SaaS administration: identity management, provisioning, and de-provisioning (Google Workspace, Okta, etc.).
  • Strong security awareness: knowledge of endpoint security, patching, encryption, and compliance best practices. Federal compliance experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to document processes and develop SOPs that scale with headcount.
  • Excellent communication skills: capable of translating technical issues for non-technical stakeholders and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Self-starter mentality: willingness to jump in, own projects from start to finish, and operate with autonomy.
  • Willingness for travel, mainly to support our San Francisco office as needed, which we expect to be infrequent.

Why Join Us?

  • High-Impact Role: You will own IT operations end-to-end, playing a key part in how our entire team works.
  • Room to Innovate: We embrace new ideas and look to implement best-in-class tools. You’ll help shape our IT strategy as we scale both our team and infrastructure.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work with passionate teams across engineering, product, and operations. We celebrate curiosity, accountability, and a growth mindset.
