
Senior/Lead Test Engineer

Purpose
This role is essential in ensuring that structural components and systems comply with safety and performance standards, directly contributing to the success of aerospace, defense, and automotive engineering projects.
The Role
Divergent is seeking an experienced and driven Sr. Test Engineer to lead component and vehicle-level validation activities. Testing at Divergent 3D demands innovative, out-of-the-box thinking and a hands-on approach. In-house testing of components and materials requires a broad, multidisciplinary skill set. As a Sr. Test Engineer, you will play a critical role in the validation process, actively interpreting test results and assessing their impact on design. Your work will focus on testing aerospace, defense and automotive engineering projects, including the record-breaking Czinger 21C.
Project Management:
- Develop and implement test plans, procedures and schedules for structural testing projects.
- Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, and other stakeholders to define test requirements and objectives.
- Create presentations and interact with internal and external stakeholders to confirm test scope and timeline.
- Monitor and coordinate external testing activities. Oversee and manage budget allocations effectively.
Test Execution and Oversight:
- Responsible for test setup, execution, and monitoring of internal and external tests.
- Design and develop test fixtures in CAD.
- Perform CAE analysis on test rigs to validate functionality and optimize hardware sizing.
- Create detailed technical drawings and comprehensive work instructions.
- Develop work packages and presentations for all stakeholders.
- Assist in setting up measurement equipment, utilizing various sensors and data loggers.
- Conduct internal structural tests using MTS servo-hydraulic infrastructure.
- Ensure all tests are executed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with safety standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues arising during testing activities.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Review and analyze test data to determine if structural components meet specified criteria.
- Prepare detailed test reports, including findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Present test results to project stakeholders, customers and management.
Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure all testing activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of test procedures, results, and any deviations.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to maintain the integrity of test results.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving testing processes, methodologies, and equipment.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and incorporate best practices into the testing program.
- Lead initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the testing team.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Ensure all team members follow safety procedures and protocols.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in test and validation within aerospace and defense industries.
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems, subsystems, and requirements.
- Proficiency in using Siemens NX and Team Center.
- Basic experience with CAE tools like Hypermesh and ANSA.
- Hands-on experience with test setup and execution.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive, self-motivated approach to workload management and meeting tight deadlines.
- Basic experience with data acquisition systems and data processing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with structural, vibration and COG/MoI tests.
- Experience with aerospace load applications and MIL-STDs.
- Experience supporting or engaging directly with external test labs.
- Experience with servo-hydraulic systems.
- Experience with National Instruments, BK, or HBK DAQ systems
- Knowledge of fluid and gas systems.

At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels E05 - E06 as evaluated through our interview process.
- Senior / E05: $122,400 - $168,300
- Lead / E06: $141,400-$194,400
