Purpose

The Strategic Account Operations Associate enables disciplined, data-driven execution of Divergent’s most critical defense prime accounts. The role provides the analytical, organizational, and operational foundation that allows Strategic Account Executives to operate effectively, while also contributing independent judgment to improve account workflows, knowledge systems, and execution efficiency. This position is designed as a high-exposure opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to build deep fluency in defense business development, advanced manufacturing, and enterprise B2B strategy.

The Role

Divergent is hiring a Strategic Account Operations Associate to support Strategic Account Executives and the broader defense business development team. This role serves as a force multiplier for senior account leaders, owning the analytical, organizational, and operational backbone of prime contractor account execution. In addition to executing established processes, the Associate is expected to identify opportunities to improve how account information, CRM data, and customer materials are structured and maintained. The role blends execution with growing autonomy and is appropriate for an early- to mid-career professional who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments.

Account Support & Execution

  • Support Strategic Account Executives in day-to-day account management and execution activities
  • Prepare meeting briefs, call notes, follow-ups, and action trackers
  • Maintain disciplined CRM hygiene across accounts, opportunities, and contacts
  • Track opportunity progress, risks, and next steps; surface issues proactively to account owners
  • Recommend improvements to account workflows and execution cadence based on observed gaps

Market & Program Research

  • Conduct market, program, and customer research across defense primes and DoD programs
  • Build and maintain program profiles including mission context, funding status, stakeholders, and manufacturing relevance
  • Synthesize research into actionable insights for account planning and prioritization 
  • Support identification and early qualification of new opportunity areas

Knowledge Management

  • Organize and maintain internal account intelligence, competitive analysis, and program data
  • Build reusable knowledge assets and templates to support cross-account learning 
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of internal playbooks and reference materials

Customer Materials & Communications

  • Build and maintain pitch decks, briefings, and customer presentation materials
  • Support creation of white papers, one-pagers, and capability summaries
  • Ensure messaging consistency, clarity, and technical accuracy
  • Independently own defined sections or standard modules of customer materials 

Internal Coordination

  • Coordinate with engineering, product, and program teams to gather inputs for customer engagement
  • Translate technical content into clear, customer-ready materials
  • Help standardize information flow between account teams and internal stakeholders 

Success Metrics

  • High-quality, timely support to assigned Strategic Account Executives
  • Accurate, complete, and current CRM and knowledge repositories
  • Measurable improvements in account organization, execution efficiency, or information quality 
  • Positive feedback from account owners and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated growth in defense market, program, and customer understanding

WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT

  • Not a pure administrative assistant role
  • Not a sales quota role
  • Not a technical engineering role

This is a strategic execution and enablement role with increasing autonomy and direct exposure to enterprise defense business development.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls.
  • 2–6 years of experience in business, engineering, consulting, government, or defense-related roles
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable exercising independent judgment within defined objectives 
  • Able to identify gaps and propose process or structure improvements
  • Interest in defense, aerospace, manufacturing, or national security

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–6 years of experience in business, engineering, consulting, government, or defense-related roles
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable exercising independent judgment within defined objectives
  • Able to identify gaps and propose process or structure improvements
  • Interest in defense, aerospace, manufacturing, or national security

Work Environment

  • This role is based in our Torrance, CA office (Hybrid/Remote with travel) 

Compensation

At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels S03 and S04 as evaluated through our interview process. 

  • S03: $82,620- $113,580
  • S04: $95,400 - $131,175

Pay Range

$82,620 - $131,175 USD
