
IT Refresh Technician (Temporary)

Temporary role
Duration: 2-3 months
Purpose
We are seeking a detail-oriented Temporary IT Refresh Technician to support a short-term laptop migration project. The technician will assist in transitioning users from one laptop vendor to another, ensuring a smooth rollout with minimal disruption to business operations.
The Role
- Configure and deploy new laptops according to company standards and imaging processes
- Migrate user data, settings, and applications from old devices to new devices
- Track asset inventory and update records for issued and returned equipment
- Coordinate with end users to schedule migration appointments
- Test newly deployed devices to ensure proper functionality
- Wipe, reset, and prepare old devices for decommissioning or return
- Escalate technical issues to senior IT staff as needed
- Maintain clear documentation of completed work and issues encountered
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Windows or macOS operating systems
- Experience with laptop setup, imaging, or device deployment preferred
- Familiarity with data migration tools and processes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to follow documented procedures and meet deadlines
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and transport laptops and related equipment (up to ~25 lbs)
- Ability to be on-site and move between workstations as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in IT support, help desk, or refresh projects
- Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM, or similar endpoint management systems
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
