Responsibilities
The Senior Training Specialist develops and delivers TACNET and CANES training programs, ensuring alignment with system baselines and operational requirements. Day-to-day duties include:
- Develop, update, and maintain TACNET training plans, curricula, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with current system baselines and operational requirements.
- Apply the instructional system development (ISD) process to establish training needs and develop goals, objectives, and training programs.
- Conduct instructor-led classroom and shipboard training for fleet personnel on CANES systems.
- Provide hands-on, practical troubleshooting and scenario-based instruction aligned with CANES systems.
- Evaluate trainee performance to ensure learning objectives are met and adapt instructional methods to diverse learner experience levels.
- Support system upgrades and configuration changes by assessing training impacts and updating materials accordingly.
- Maintain training metrics, completion records, and status reporting to support audits, inspections, and readiness reviews.
- Coordinate with government stakeholders, program management, and engineers to ensure training reflects current system capabilities, configurations, and CONOPS.
- Assist in identifying training gaps, risks, and mitigation strategies that could impact TACNET operational readiness.
- Create training materials that incorporate current CANES baselines, system updates, cybersecurity requirements, and configuration changes.
- Periodic travel is required for this role.
Qualifications
- Required Security Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- A Master's with or Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Psychology, or a related training systems discipline.
- Ten (10) years of professional training experience with a Master's degree, OR
- Fourteen (14) years of professional training experience with a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience must include: establishing training needs, developing goals and objectives, developing training programs, and applying the instructional system development (ISD) process.
- Hands-on experience with Navy Shipboard Networks including CANES, or other TACNET systems.
- Experience must include three (3) of the following four (4) areas: Network Administration, System Administration, Technical Documentation, and Training.
- Must be a recognized expert with demonstrated expertise in C4I Networks and System Administration.
- Experience with technical training in TACNET or other Navy C4I system Administration and Maintenance.
- Must possess a Training Certification in Navy's Basic Instructor Training (NEC 805A or 9502) OR a current industry standard trainer certification, such as Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) or CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+).
- Must be Cybersecurity Work Force (CSWF) qualified within 12 months of starting.
