Overview

DLH Corp is looking for a Public Health Graphic Artist to join our talented and innovative team supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. This is a hybrid work environment based out of Atlanta, teleworking most days with visits to the CDC campus for in-person meetings and office visits on an ad hoc basis.  

CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP), the Division of HIV Prevention (DHP), is charged with preventing HIV infection and reducing the incidence of HIV-related illness and death. The overarching objectives of the contract held by DLH are to assist DHP in addressing its public health mission by providing data management, data governance, data analysis, and data dissemination support to strengthen the nationwide capacity to monitor the HIV epidemic. As such, DLH is seeking an Atlanta-based Graphic Artist with the following skills:  

Responsibilities

  • Developing graphics for scientific and consumer audiences, such as graphics for websites, posters, infographics, logos, etc.  
  • Communicating, meeting, and collaborating with Division staff to determine needs, and translating needs into creative and compelling graphical representations of HIV prevention messages. 
  • Responding to urgent, time-sensitive requests for graphics development and revision. 
  • Maintaining and storing all graphics files in accordance with CDC policies. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Fine Arts, or a related design field.  
  • At least 3 to 10 years of relevant experience developing high-quality visual formatting, graphics, and dissemination products, preferably for scientific or public health audiences.  
  • Advanced proficiency using standard design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud suite). 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Must be able to translate science into visual media and meld creativity with scientific accuracy. 
  • A meticulous approach to work and an eye for detail. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines, concentrate amid confusion, and work under pressure is essential. 
  • Ability to work well alone as well as within a multidisciplinary team. 
  • Self-starter and highly motivated. 
  • Must have excellent written English, including good spelling and grammar. 
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish language knowledge/fluency. 
  • Experience designing for public health, particularly HIV or STDs. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and how it applies to communication and design.
