Principal DCI™ Evangelist/Advocate
Role Overview
The Principal FinOps Evangelist will serve as a senior thought leader and public advocate for DoiT Cloud Intelligence™, driving its adoption and reputation in the FinOps community. In this individual contributor role, you will combine your deep FinOps expertise with outstanding communication skills to champion DoiT’s Cloud Intelligence platform as the premier solution for cloud cost management and optimization.
You’ll engage with industry forums, conferences, and enterprise clients to highlight how DoiT’s context-aware, multi-cloud intelligence platform—fusing smart automation with human expertise—delivers superior outcomes over other tools in the market.
This is a strategic, outward-facing position (not a line management role) for a seasoned FinOps practitioner who can comfortably interface at all organizational levels, from engineers to CFOs and CIOs reporting directly to our Chief Product Officer. The role is remote-friendly, however, it requires considerable travel (approx 35%) for conferences, events, and on-site client engagements to evangelize DoiT Cloud Intelligence and FinOps best practices around the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Industry Advocacy: Champion the principles of FinOps and cloud cost optimization in the community. Engage with the FinOps Foundation and related forums as a credible expert (FinOps Foundation membership or ambassador status a plus) to educate organizations on FinOps maturity and how DoiT’s platform aligns with and exceeds FinOps framework standards.
- Thought Leadership & Evangelism: Act as the public face of DoiT Cloud Intelligence in the FinOps space, speaking at industry conferences (e.g. FinOps X, AWS re:Invent, Google Cloud Next events) and webinars to share insights and best practices. Publish high-quality thought leadership content (white papers, blog posts, case studies) on cloud financial management and how DoiT’s solutions drive innovation and efficiency.
- Competitive Positioning: Develop a deep understanding of competing FinOps and cloud cost management tools (e.g. Apptio Cloudability, VMware CloudHealth/Aria Cost, CloudZero, native AWS/Azure cost tools). Continuously analyze and articulate DoiT Cloud Intelligence’s advantages over other solutions, emphasizing unique features like its context-aware multi-cloud analytics, fusion of automation with human cloud expertise, and FinOps Certified Platform status. Equip sales and marketing teams with clear positioning strategies and competitive insights.
- Content Creation: Produce compelling content that demonstrates thought leadership and DoiT’s value proposition. This includes authoring blog articles, research reports, and technical guides on cloud cost management, as well as creating slide decks for executive briefings, webinars, video and social media posts. Ensure all content highlights key Cloud Intelligence differentiators – for example, how DoiT’s platform proactively prevents cloud waste and optimizes spend across AWS, GCP, and Azure
- Client & Community Engagement: Work closely with prospective and existing customers as a FinOps subject matter expert. Lead workshops, roadmap sessions, and executive briefings to help customers understand how to leverage DoiT Cloud Intelligence to plan, procure, and operate efficient and cost-effective cloud environments. Gather feedback on industry needs and funnel insights to internal product teams. Serve as a trusted advisor to customer FinOps teams, building credibility through your own practical experience in optimizing cloud spend at scale.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with DoiT’s product, marketing, and engineering teams to ensure our Cloud Intelligence platform messaging resonates with FinOps practitioners. Provide market feedback and identify trends in cloud financial management to assist in shaping product strategy. Partner with product marketing to create competitive comparison guides and with sales engineers to develop demo narratives that highlight our strengths compared to competitors.
- Create an intake process to review and vet incoming asks from global team members as part of managing expectations and prioritizing high-impact opportunities.
- Create and maintain a roadmap covering both upcoming activities and engagements as well as their content creation and launch schedule.
- Establish a base line of metrics by which we measure the impact, effectiveness and overall quality of activities on the road to making incremental adjustments and optimizing for performance.
- Host quarterly QBRs to review and audit the performance of activities and metrics, solicit input, and review upcoming plans.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive FinOps Expertise: 3+ years of experience in cloud financial management / FinOps or related fields. A proven track record of leading FinOps initiatives or teams at a large-scale, cloud-driven company (enterprise or high-growth tech) is highly desired, adding instant credibility. Deep familiarity with FinOps principles (inform, optimize, operate phases) and hands-on experience implementing cost optimization and cloud budgeting processes.
- Domain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of all major cloud platforms’ cost structures (AWS, GCP, Azure) and industry-leading Cloud Cost Management tools. Experience with competitor FinOps platforms (such as Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth, Flexera, CloudZero, etc.) or cloud cost analytics solutions is required – you can leverage this knowledge to convincingly explain why DoiT’s Cloud Intelligence approach outperforms traditional cloud cost tools. FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or similar certification is a plus.
- Thought Leadership & Communication: Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills, with a history of engagements at conferences, meetups, or webinars. Outstanding writing ability for producing content that engages both technical and executive audiences. Able to distill complex cloud cost concepts into clear, impactful messages. Executive presence and credibility to influence C-level stakeholders, coupled with an approachability to earn trust with engineers and FinOps practitioners alike.
- Strategic Mindset: Big-picture thinker who understands not just the technical facets of cloud optimization but also the business outcomes. Capable of framing the conversation around business value, ROI, and cloud financial strategy when dealing with executives while also drilling into tactical recommendations (rightsizing, reservations, etc.) with technical teams). Demonstrated ability to define and drive a vision for industry impact rather than just executing tasks.
- Travel & Autonomy: Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 35%, including international) to represent DoiT at events and customer sites. Self-motivated and proactive, able to operate autonomously as a senior individual contributor. Excellent collaboration skills to work remotely with global teams. A passion for community-building and helping others succeed in their cloud FinOps journey.
Key Attributes
- Influential Evangelist: You are passionate about FinOps and have a natural flair for evangelism – inspiring and educating others comes to you as second nature. You can credibly champion a product without it feeling like a sales pitch by focusing on thought leadership and real-world examples.
- Credibility & Trust: A recognized (or aspiring) name in the FinOps/cloud cost optimization community. Your prior experience (e.g. managing multi-million dollar cloud budgets) gives you authority. You stay on top of industry trends and speak with insight about the FinOps landscape, earning respect from both customers and peers.
- Excellent Communicator: Superior storytelling ability – whether on stage, in a blog, or in a boardroom, you tailor your message to the audience. Able to concisely convey how DoiT Cloud Intelligence solves pain points better than anyone else. Comfortable fielding questions on the fly and adept at using data and anecdotes to persuade.
- Strategic & Collaborative: More of a strategist than a hands-on engineer (though you understand the technical basics). You think in terms of industry challenges and solutions. Internally, you work cross-functionally and share knowledge; externally, you eagerly partner with community groups or standards bodies to advance FinOps understanding.
- Passion for Innovation: A growth mindset with genuine enthusiasm for how cloud technology and financial management intersect. Eager to continuously learn and then teach – whether it’s a new feature of a competitor tool or an emerging best practice in cloud cost optimization, you’ll digest it and figure out how to position DoiT ahead of the curve.
Competitive Positioning Focus
In this evangelist role, a critical success factor is the ability to highlight what makes DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ stand out in the FinOps marketplace. Key competitive positioning aspects include:
- Context-Aware, Multicloud Intelligence: DoiT Cloud Intelligence is “the only context-aware multicloud intelligence platform on the market”. Emphasize how this context-aware approach – understanding the customer’s environment and usage patterns – yields more actionable insights than generic cost tools. The platform seamlessly supports AWS, Google Cloud, Azure (and even Snowflake), providing holistic visibility and optimization across all major environments. This breadth and depth set it apart from single-cloud or less intelligent solutions.
- Fusion of Automation and Human Expertise: Highlight DoiT’s unique service model: the combination of smart software with human cloud cost experts. At the core of Cloud Intelligence is software that rapidly analyzes billing and usage data and can automate many actions – but DoiT goes further by “wrapping and augmenting this with the best cloud operations experts in the world” to provide contextual, personalized analysis beyond what standalone software or AI can do. Competitors may offer tools and separate consulting, but DoiT delivers a unified FinOps platform + expert advisory in one package, leading to faster and more tailored outcomes for customers.
- Proactive Optimization & Waste Prevention: DoiT Cloud Intelligence doesn’t just report costs; it actively helps prevent cloud waste and optimize performance. The platform “proactively prevents waste and quickly troubleshoots complex issues in any cloud infrastructure”, enabling organizations to efficiently plan and operate secure, high-performance cloud environments. This proactive stance differentiates DoiT’s offering by focusing on continuous improvement, not just after-the-fact analysis. As evangelist, you will underscore how this leads to tangible business value – cloud cost savings and improved reliability and speed.
- FinOps Framework Alignment & Certification: Reinforce that DoiT Cloud Intelligence is built with FinOps best practices in mind. The platform is recognized as a FinOps Certified Platform by the FinOps Foundation, signaling that it meets rigorous standards for capabilities and interoperability in the FinOps ecosystem. Like Apptio’s Cloudability (a well-known FinOps tool aligning with the FinOps framework, DoiT’s solution covers cost allocation, budgeting, anomaly detection, and more – but with the added advantages of real-time intelligence and expert guidance. This certification and DoiT’s active role as a FinOps Foundation Premier Member give it industry credibility that you will promote.
- Holistic Cloud Value Management: Position Cloud Intelligence as more than a cost tool – it’s a platform for cloud value management. DoiT enables clients to “optimize, scale, and innovate in every stage of cloud adoption”, tying financial management to operational and business outcomes. While competing products might focus narrowly on cost reports or savings plan recommendations, DoiT’s solution provides operating intelligence, workload intelligence, and automation in addition to cost analytics. As the evangelist, you will illustrate how this holistic approach helps stakeholders from engineering, finance, and product teams collaborate to make smarter cloud investment decisions – a clear superiority in achieving FinOps maturity.
By weaving these competitive differentiators into your talks, content, and customer conversations, you will reinforce why DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ is the FinOps platform of choice for organizations aiming to maximize cloud value while controlling costs in a well-balanced approach with security, performance and reliability. Your ultimate mission is to convey, with authority and enthusiasm, why DoiT’s Cloud Intelligence is a game-changer in the FinOps landscape.
