The Opportunity
As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Cloud Optimization, you will play a pivotal role in evolving our cutting-edge Cloud Management Platform, specifically DoiT Flexsave and DoiT Insights. This isn't just about building features; it's about driving organization-wide cloud cost reduction, enhancing security posture, and delivering significant performance improvements across our customers' cloud environments. You will collaborate closely with product managers and cross-functional development teams, directly influencing product strategy and design decisions.
DoiT Flexsave has already delivered over $100 million in savings to our customers by intelligently optimizing their cloud spend through dynamic adjustment of discount mechanisms. DoiT Insights empowers organizations to optimize cloud costs, bolster infrastructure security, and adopt FinOps and Well-Architected best practices. It provides actionable recommendations and tracks progress, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
Your work will directly enable our customers to make smarter, more cost-effective, and secure decisions across their cloud infrastructure. We are seeking an engineer with an overarching, top-level understanding of what it takes for an entire organization to achieve cloud excellence in these areas.
Responsibilities
- Co-own Roadmap & Backlog: Collaborate on defining and scoping the future vision of the product roadmap, taking ownership of key parts of the product backlog related to optimization, security, and performance.
- Analyze & Automate: Dive deep into cloud architectures and utilization patterns to identify inefficiencies and uncover significant cost-saving opportunities. Design and document scalable algorithms that automate the detection of waste and provide actionable recommendations.
- Research & Innovate: Stay current on evolving cloud pricing models, new services, and best practices across major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure). Research new optimization strategies and validate their reliability.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software development experience, ideally with a strong focus as a Backend engineer.
- Demonstrable Deep & Broad Cloud Optimization Expertise (The Key Skill): Extensive, hands-on experience with cloud services and their optimization across Cost, Security, and Performance domains (e.g., in AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Proven track record leading or significantly contributing to organization-wide projects to reduce cloud costs. Be prepared to discuss specific examples where you were in charge of or a core part of initiatives that drove significant financial savings across an enterprise.
- An overarching top-level understanding of cloud resource management, FinOps principles, and well-architected frameworks.
- Programming Language Proficiency: A solid understanding of programming languages. While knowledge of the Go programming language is ideal, a strong willingness and ability to quickly learn and fully embrace Go (and potentially others) is essential.
- System Design: Strong experience in designing scalable, reliable, and performant distributed systems.
