About the Role:
The Retail Team Lead, UK for Dr. Squatch will oversee our relationships and performance in key retail channels, including Grocery, Drug, and Club ensuring that we deliver on our growth objectives. The Retail Team Lead will be responsible for P&L management, strategic account planning, and sales execution. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in managing retail customers directly and/or through a broker network.
This role will report to the Head of International and work closely with the Global Retail Sales Team.
This is a full-time role with company benefits and is approved for remote candidates. This role is based out of the United Kingdom.
Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.
What You'll Do:
- Strategy: Collaborate with the Head of International and the Head of Retail to build and execute our sales strategy in the United Kingdom to encourage trial, market share growth & household penetration
- Retail P&L Management: Fully own the retail P&L for the UK market, ensuring profitability and revenue targets across all channels; lead ad hoc analysis with account managers and the sales strategy team to recover accounts and identify growth opportunities
- Account Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners, including negotiating contracts, terms, and promotional opportunities.
- Retail Marketing: Drive progress in collaboration with our marketing team to create visually stunning, best-in-class merchandising destinations for Dr. Squatch on shelf
- Promotional Planning & Execution: Develop and own strategy for trade promotions & customer spending by account
- Product Innovation: Work directly with retail partners to identify assortment gaps, needs, and opportunities to drive category growth; collaborate with the commercialization team to ensure timely execution
- Sales Pitches: Drive development of sales pitches, quarterly updates, and annual line reviews, highlighting product innovation, category trends, and consumer insights to drive category growth
- Reporting: Regularly create presentations and updates on performance, priorities, strategy, and initiatives
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and other teams to ensure alignment on product launches, pricing strategies, promotional planning, and overall retail execution.
About You:
- 10+ years of experience in Sales, Business Development, or Account Management background in CPG - preference for prior category experience in personal care or wellness
- Blend of experience between large established brands and early-stage ups
- Experience working with Tier 1 UK Accounts (e.g., Boots, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, etc.)
- Proven success in achieving aggressive sales goals
- Prior experience managing multiple broker networks
- Prior experience optimizing performance and managing third-party merchandising groups
- Deep understanding of the landscape for national accounts, brokers, distributors, etc.
- Experience scaling a brand and pioneering retail sales a huge plus
- Experience launching international retail sales a huge plus
- Ability to travel when necessary
- Excellent communication skills
- Interest in health and wellness, personal care, and/or eCommerce industries
- Experience working in the consumer products industry is highly preferred
- Someone who gets things done without perfect resources is innovative and works with a sense of urgency
- Someone who has high standards takes ownership and is invested in the outcome
- Someone who proactively helps others stays positive and has a good sense of humor
