About the Role:
Dr. Squatch is looking for a Packaging Designer will own custom packaging artwork across our portfolio of natural personal care products. Specifically, this role will innovate, design, and flesh out packaging solutions for new products across all categories. This person will be the main point of contact for package development both internally and externally. As a member of the Marketing team, the Packaging Designer will also work closely with the Product team to execute on packaging development, lead global artwork refinement, own color matching and press checks.
This role will report to the Creative Director.
This is a full-time hybrid role with company benefits based in Marina del Rey, California.
The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $70,000 to $85,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.
What You'll Do:
- Design and develop innovative and attractive packaging solutions across our product portfolio to maximize the user experience; with an eye for hierarchy, effective design systems, and beautiful typography.
- Sustain, strengthen, and successfully flesh-out established packaging design frameworks, and effectively adhere to and improve upon existing templates across product categories.
- Work cross-functionally to lead the artwork development process for new categories with both internal and external supply chain partners.
- QA physical packaging samples, color swatches, and press sheets (which may require travel), and assist with the cross-functional approval process for all packaging development
- Maintain consistency across all Packaging Design systems, suggest efficiencies, design improvements, and ways to streamline workflow.
- Report to the Creative Director and partner with Packaging Engineers to ensure Dr. Squatch is always looking its very best on shelf and in the home.
About You:
- At least 3 years of proven experience in packaging design
- Bachelor’s degree in Design / Visual Communication, and owner of a diverse portfolio of design success
- Proven experience of the design and execution of custom packaging with domestic and overseas vendors
- Strong understanding of dieline and package development
- Adobe Creative Suite experience is required
- Comfortable with a rapidly evolving work environment, and experience with taking initiative in a fast-paced setting
- Illustration experience is a plus
- Experience in the CPG industry is a plus
- Experience with retailer specific packaging requirements is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
- Interest in health and wellness, personal care, and/or eCommerce industries
