About the Role:

Dr. Squatch is looking for a Senior Manager, Growth Strategy & Commercial Planning to join the Retail Strategy team and drive the rapid growth of our Retail business. This role sits at the center of Dr. Squatch’s retail growth strategy, shaping how we prioritize customers, categories, and investments to drive profitable scale. The Senior Manager will partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Category teams to turn data and insight into clear commercial direction and executive-ready recommendations.

This role will report to the Director of Retail Strategy.

This is a full-time, hybrid role with company benefits based in Marina Del Rey, CA ; in office 3 days a week at Dr. Squatch HQ.

The anticipated base compensation range for this role will be $135,000 to $160,000. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and local market rates.

What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Growth & Commercial Planning
    • Lead identification of Retail growth opportunities through structured market, channel, and customer analysis
    • Own development of Retail sales strategies aligned with brand ambition, category growth objectives, and financial targets
    • Define channel priorities, distribution strategies, and commercial guardrails to support scalable, profitable growth
    • Serve as a central strategic partner to Marketing, Sales, Category, and Finance to ensure cohesive go-to-market execution
    • Establish and oversee core commercial performance metrics, including assortment productivity, customer economics, and pricing outcomes
    • Build scalable planning tools, dashboards, and decision frameworks that elevate how commercial decisions are made
  • Analytics, Forecasting & Business Insights
    • Synthesize data into clear strategic perspectives on sales performance, competitive dynamics, and retailer opportunities for cross-functional partners and executive leadership
    • Design and maintain best-in-class sales forecasting and estimation processes to support planning, scenario analysis, and resource allocation
    • Develop analytical models and executive-ready dashboards that convert complex datasets into actionable commercial insights
    • Leverage syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, Circana, Numerator), internal systems, and BI platforms to inform strategy and track performance
  • Go-To-Market & Retail Strategy
    • Partner with Sales and Category Strategy teams to shape retailer-specific growth strategies grounded in shopper, category, and financial insights, including leverage customer specific data sets (e.g., Walmart Scintilla, Kroger 84.51)
    • Equip Sales leadership and field teams with clear strategic narratives, playbooks, and analytical frameworks to drive execution
  • Cross-Functional Strategy & Leadership
    • Partner with Finance to evaluate revenue, margin, and investment scenarios that inform strategic trade-offs and prioritization
    • Collaborate with Marketing to align activation plans, innovation launches, and brand priorities with commercial strategy
    • Inform product and portfolio strategy across core products, innovation pipelines, and customer-specific initiatives
    • Work closely with Supply Chain to ensure commercial strategies are operationally feasible and demand-aligned
    • Support commercialization and launch decisions with rigorous customer insights and strategic recommendations

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, analytics, or commercial planning roles, ideally within CPG, retail, or consumer-focused businesses; experience in management consulting, investment banking, or private equity strongly valued
  • Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems, build data-driven analyses, and synthesize insights into clear strategic recommendations
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and communicate complex perspectives to senior leaders and cross-functional partners
  • Proven track record of independently owning complex initiatives from concept through execution in fast-paced environments
  • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Bias toward action with the ability to deliver results despite imperfect information, limited resources, or tight timelines
  • Highly collaborative teammate who builds trust across functions, supports others proactively, and brings a positive, grounded attitude to the work
  • Experience working with retailer, syndicated, and panel data sources, along with strong data analysis and visualization capabilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and presentation tools (PowerPoint or Google Slides) to support structured analysis and executive communication
  • Solid understanding of CPG industry dynamics, category management principles, and retail operating models
