Position Summary
We’re on a mission to reinvent the financial system and make it work for people. We are looking for an experienced professional to lead an engineering team composed of backend engineers. We are looking for an engineering manager based out of our Mexico City, MX office.
Our current team is largely composed of experienced staff engineers who are excellent mentors.
As an Engineering Manager for our payroll team, you will work cross functionally with various teams and have the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of our backend services for payroll. Come make a difference with us and have fun doing it!

What You’ll Do
- Work with the leadership across EarnIn Payroll to deliver our mission: build a financial system that works for everyday people
- Partner with the product team and other engineering teams to build new payroll features
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to recruit other great engineers to your team
- Onboard new team members effectively, ensuring a smooth ramp-up with clear expectations, mentorship, and support
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, inclusion, and innovation, promoting professional growth and retention
- Provide hands-on leadership, conducting regular 1:1s, and performance reviews
- Assign work, set goals, and remove blockers to keep the team focused and productive and ensuring timely delivery of features
- Ensure adherence to engineering best practices
- Partner closely with Product Managers to understand requirements and mentor the team
- Coordinate with parallel engineering teams contributing to the same product
- Act as the liaison between your team and a geographically distributed frontend team
- Contribute to engineering wide initiatives at EarnIn
- 4+ years of software engineering experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 2+ years of people management experience
- Experience leading a team of 4 or more engineers making high impact changes to critical applications
- You are a problem solver with the drive to get things done
- You can create and maintain a positive, healthy team environment in which everyone is supported, encouraged, and challenged to do great work
- You are a software engineer who became a manager because you are great with people and want to help others grow in their careers
- You don’t back down from a technical challenge and jump in to help solve it
- You are comfortable working with a cross functional team
