POSITION SUMMARY

EarnIn is a fintech company on a mission to build products and services that create better financial outcomes for everyday Americans. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented IT Helpdesk Apprentice to join our Enterprise IT team in Mountain View, CA. This apprenticeship provides structured, hands-on experience in IT operations, device lifecycle management, and helpdesk support in a fast-paced technology environment.

The apprentice will work directly with the IT Support team to support day-to-day IT operations at our MTV/HQ office. This is a real-world apprenticeship, not a shadow experience. You will own meaningful work from day one, including device management, imaging automation, inventory operations, and end-user support. This position runs 10-15 hours per week on-site and is expected to span 12-24 months in alignment with Cabrillo College's CIS Apprenticeship program requirements. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship or immigration support for this position.  

WHAT YOU'LL DO 

Device Lifecycle and Imaging 

  • Enroll corporate and BYOD devices into Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms (Jamf Pro and Workspace ONE); troubleshoot and resolve MDM-related issues
  • Receive, inspect, and process returned corporate laptops from departing or transitioning employees
  • Perform secure data backup of returned devices prior to wiping and reimaging using Druva
  • Execute and continuously improve automated laptop imaging and provisioning workflows using Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune, reducing manual setup time
  • Configure standard software, OS settings, and access controls on newly provisioned devices; experience with macOS and Google Workspace is a plus
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to verify each device meets EarnIn standards before deployment

Physical Device Inventory Management

  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date inventory of all IT hardware, including laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and accessories
  • Perform periodic inventory reconciliation to ensure all assets are accounted for, and records are current
  • Track device conditions, models, serial numbers, and assignment history using IT asset management tools (e.g., Jamf Pro, ServiceNow, Jira Asset Management, or equivalent)
  • Coordinate with the IT and Finance teams on the intake, storage, and disposition of hardware

IT Helpdesk Support

  • Provide in-person technical support to employees at MTV/HQ for hardware and software issues; common tools include macOS, Windows, Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoomth
  • Assist with onboarding setup for new employees, including workstation configuration and access provisioning
  • Support offboarding processes, including device collection, account deactivation coordination, and asset recovery
  • Troubleshoot common technical issues and escalate complex cases to senior IT staff as appropriate
  • Maintain and update internal knowledge base articles for common IT issues and procedures

Conference Room & AV Support

  • Ensure conference room equipment (displays, cameras, Zoom Rooms, etc.) is maintained and updated on the current OS and application versions
  • Perform periodic checks of AV equipment across the office and flag issues for remediation
  • Host or assist with company All Hands or team offsite events, AV needs

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Document current imaging and provisioning workflows and identify opportunities for automation
  • Assist in building or improving tooling and scripts to streamline repetitive IT operational tasks
  • Participate in team retrospectives and contribute ideas for improving IT operations

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field at Cabrillo College or another accredited institution
  • Eligible and committed to participating in Cabrillo College's formal CIS Apprenticeship program for a minimum of 12 months
  • Located in or able to commute to Mountain View, CA for scheduled on-site hours (10-20 hours/week)
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (macOS and/or Windows), and common software applications
  • Familiarity with or curiosity about device imaging, MDM tools (e.g., Jamf Pro), or IT automation is a strong plus; training will be provided
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in inventory and documentation tasks
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with team members and end users
  • Ability to work independently, manage time across part-time hours, and follow through on assigned tasks
  • Respect for data privacy, security practices, and handling of sensitive employee information
  • Eagerness to learn, grow in the IT field, and take on increasing responsibility over the course of the apprenticeship

PROGRAM DETAILS AND EXPECTATIONS 

  • This is a formal apprenticeship in partnership with Cabrillo College's CIS Apprenticeship Program
  • The apprentice is hired directly as an EarnIn hourly employee and goes through our standard onboarding and background check process
  • Starting compensation is $25/hour, with at least one pay increase before the end of the apprenticeship (as required by the program)
  • The hiring manager will attend quarterly committee meetings with Cabrillo College and complete a skills competency assessment for the apprentice twice per year
  • The apprentice is expected to maintain satisfactory progress in their college coursework and achieve at least a 75% pass rate on competency assessments
  • Part-time, no benefits; estimated 10-20 hours/week on-site at our Mountain View, CA office
  • Successful apprentices may be considered for conversion to a full-time IT Support role at EarnIn upon completion pending business needs and performance
