
Senior Technical Project Manager

What you will do:
As the Senior Technical Project Manager, you will lead complex technical projects with diverse scopes, applying advanced project management methodologies and technical expertise. You will be responsible for devising project management solutions based on limited information, adapting existing approaches, and resolving issues creatively. You will work independently and collaborate with senior internal and external partners to ensure project success. There may be multiple projects in progress requiring attention at any given time.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead multiple cross functional medium to highly complex technical projects with minimal supervision
- Apply advanced project management methodologies to develop and maintain project plans, including critical path analysis, risk management, budgeting, scope management, waterfall, and agile.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables
- Model a steady leadership presence that fosters cohesion and clarity across the team, especially during periods of uncertainty or change
- Monitor project progress and performance, adapting plans as necessary to meet objectives
- Own communication across teams and stakeholders, providing regular updates and resolving conflicts
- Facilitate and synthesize cross-functional conversations to develop clear, structured timelines for current and upcoming initiatives
- Lead resource allocation efforts and coordinate seamless handoffs for operations headcount planning, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Oversee projects that involve research and development, balancing innovation with delivery timelines and technical feasibility
- Build strong relationships with senior leadership, effectively communicating project status, risks, and strategic impacts to drive informed decision-making
- Continuously check in on active timelines to ensure accuracy and escalate deviations, as necessary
- Use technical knowledge to ask probing questions of engineers and fully understand the requirements of projects
- Cultivate strong working relationships with engineers and project managers, tailoring project management approaches to align with individual preferences and specific situational needs
- Own recommendations for de-risking crucial tasks and/or parallelizing workstreams where possible
- Communicate project status information through in-person meetings as well as digital reports
- Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
What we need you to bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, controls engineering, materials science, or related field
- 8+ years of industry experience in technical project management, project engineering role or a combination of engineering and technical project management roles; (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and understanding of project management principles, tools, and methodologies within technology, manufacturing, and product development environments
- Applies advanced project management practices to coordinate tasks, schedules, and deliverables across engineering, operations, and product teams in a fast-paced, startup setting
- Possesses strong skills in developing project frameworks, resource strategies, and timelines that align with evolving business needs and organizational goals
- Capable of bridging engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure coordinated workflows from concept through production
- Brings a solutions-oriented mindset with a proven ability to address technical and operational challenges in high-growth or startup settings
- Understands interdependencies across hardware, software, and production systems, and can effectively translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Skilled in adapting project management methodologies, tools, and processes to dynamic or ambiguous environments
- Exercises sound professional judgment in selecting and adapting techniques, especially when scaling products or systems
- Maintains a strong focus on quality standards, compliance, and key performance indicators while operating under time constraints
- Advises stakeholders and cross-functional teams on project risks, feasibility, resource allocation, and long-term planning
- Demonstrates leadership capabilities in mentoring or guiding cross-disciplinary teams, particularly in matrixed or startup environments
- Contributes to the development and refinement of operational strategies, internal processes, and technical policy frameworks
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities and competing deadlines effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, alignment, and cross-functional collaboration
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint), with the ability to learn new tools quickly
What we want you to bring to the team:
- 10+ years of industry experience in a technical project management role (excludes internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
- Expert with Microsoft Project and task planning platforms
- Previous experience in a start-up environment or a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Experience managing projects with design, development, installation, and verification of technology hardware or chemical process systems and equipment
- PMP, CAPM, or similar certification preferred.
Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $100,000- $130,000 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
