At TRM, you'll join a mission-driven, fast-paced team made up of experts in law enforcement, data science, engineering, and financial intelligence, tackling complex global challenges daily. Whether analyzing blockchain data, developing cutting-edge tools, or collaborating with global organizations, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact.

The Product Engineering team collaborates with an experienced group of data scientists, engineers, and product managers to build mission-critical features that analyze blockchain transaction activity at a massive scale. As head of product engineering, you will g\row and lead the TRM product engineering team to ship a world class and market leading blockchain intelligence product.

The impact you will have:

  • Lead and nurture a team of managers and high-impact engineers, offering guidance in technology, execution and culture.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership, product management, GTM and peer teams to plan, estimate, and prioritize roadmap objectives, identifying opportunities and mitigating risks.
  • Provide regular coaching and technical mentorship to your immediate team as well as contribute to the broader engineering department's growth.
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring the quality and timely delivery of the team's work, while overseeing the availability and performance of critical services.
  • Drive projects aligned with well-defined goals and measurable outcomes, accountable to key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Foster best practices in design and usability, creating scalable solutions while emphasizing documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Resolve operational escalations and collaborate with various teams to address production incidents until resolution.
  • Build performant, and reliable production-grade systems, from whiteboard to production.
  • Mentor fellow team members and participate in technical reviews, code reviews and design reviews.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, designers, and product managers to define and implement services.
  • Create novel approaches to tackling blockchain-specific challenges around scale, security, and privacy.

What we’re looking for:

  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience developing full stack features that present large data sets and have complex distributed system components
  • Experience with Typescript/javascript based full stack.
  • Experience leading and coaching managers.
  • Experience with software review, build and deployment systems (e.g., Github, Docker, AWS)
  • Experience collaborating in a cross-functional team environment with a diverse group of people at all levels in an organization.
  • A high degree of initiative and ownership, combined with the ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt quickly to change.
  • Exceptional ability to structure problems and identify the most critical issues to prioritize.

About the Team:

  • The team is today composed of a mix of backend, frontend and fullstack engineers with two managers for backend and frontend. Team members are global with all levels from L3 to L5. The team works very closely with product management and peer teams to iterate on the roadmap and ship features.
  • We ship early and we ship often. We follow an iterative roadmap process called as rolling roadmap as opposed to annual plans in how we evaluate and prioritize roadmap features. Each project is assigned a technical anchor who owns the end to end delivery of that project in collaboration with the managers and other teams. We do weekly sprints and continuous releases as the features are ready. The teams are responsible for the oncall for the services that are running and issues reported from customers via slack. We are a global team on multiple continents but all team members are required to have 6 hours of overlap with US Pacific Time.

Learn about TRM Speed in this position:

    • Evaluate options for a given problem and make quick decisions among the options that can be reversed or changed versus deeper dive for irreversible decisions - ship a feature to customer using one chain to get feedback instead of waiting for supporting all chains.
    • If we are not sure of what channels to implement notifications to customers, quickly build notifications using external workflow engines like zapier or n8n to support channels so we get feedback and implement more sophisticated notifications in code.
    • Evaluate upcoming roadmap to reorder projects based on team members skills and availability (PTO, oncall) to produce a schedule that ships more features in a shorter time frame.

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $250,000 - $290,000.
  • Additionally, this role may be eligible to participate in TRM’s equity plan.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
