Material Handler - 2nd Shift

Specific Role:
The Material Handler/QC Inspector – Night Shift is responsible for maintaining an efficient flow of parts through Secondary Processing while ensuring quality, quantity, identification, and D365 accuracy. This role moves and stages material for each operation, verifies parts against production orders and drawings, identifies defects or missing quantities, and prevents nonconforming parts from moving downstream.
The posiion supports daily schedule attainment by ensuring each work center receives complete, accurate, and properly labeled orders on time.
Key Accountabilities:
Material Handling & Production Flow
- Move, stage, and organize parts between Secondary Processing work centers, including press brakes and panel benders.
- Prioritize material movement according to the daily production schedule.
- Verify that orders are complete, properly identified, and staged at the correct work center.
- Prevent production delays by proactively identifying material shortages or missing parts.
- Coordinate with operators and the Production Manager to address changing production priorities.
Quality Control & Part Verification
- Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, damage, workmanship, and compliance with drawings or work instructions.
- Verify part numbers, quantities, material types, and order information before transferring parts.
- Identify, segregate, and clearly label nonconforming parts.
- Report defects, shortages, and repeated quality issues to the Production Manager and Quality team.
- Ensure rework or rejected parts follow the established quality process.
D365 Accuracy & Traceability
- Complete all required scans and material transactions in D365.
- Verify that system quantities, locations, and production statuses match the physical material.
- Correct or escalate discrepancies before material moves to the next operation.
- Maintain accurate identification and traceability for all staged parts and orders.
Communication & Shift Coordination
- Communicate material shortages, quality concerns, and production constraints immediately.
- Coordinate with operators, leads, Quality, and the Production Manager to resolve issues.
- Provide an accurate end-of-shift handoff covering completed work, pending material, holds, and priorities.
- Support urgent production needs as directed by the Production Manager.
Workplace Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all PPE, forklift, crane, and material-handling requirements.
- Operate material-handling equipment only when properly trained and authorized.
- Keep aisles, staging areas, and work centers clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Report safety concerns, damaged equipment, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Protect finished and in-process parts from damage during movement and staging.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, material handling, production, quality inspection, or a related environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret production orders, part numbers, drawings, and work instructions.
- Basic understanding of dimensional inspection and the ability to identify visible defects, damage, or workmanship concerns.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to verify part numbers, quantities, material types, and order information accurately.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and use D365 or similar ERP/MRP systems for material transactions and production tracking.
- Ability to organize and prioritize material according to production schedules and changing operational needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operators, leads, Quality, and Production Management.
- Ability to identify problems, communicate discrepancies, and escalate quality or material concerns promptly.
- Forklift, crane, or other material-handling equipment experience preferred. Required certifications or authorization must be obtained before operating applicable equipment.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to work the assigned night-shift schedule.
Physical and Safety Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout an entire shift.
- Always use applicable PPE.
- Follow safety protocols when using tools, equipment, and handling materials.
- Ability to safely operate authorized material-handling equipment after required training.

Pay Range
$20 - $24 USD
