We are looking for a seasoned Software Engineering Manager who will help shape the future of our application. This role will involve leading a team of Software Engineers and will require hands-on contribution to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, high-quality web applications. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in full stack development, software architecture, team leadership, and mentoring engineers to deliver impactful solutions. The candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an engineering mindset, and a passion for building enterprise-scale software using modern frameworks, cloud platforms, and CI/CD practices. Success in this position will be defined by your ability to own deliverables, effectively manage your team, and drive meaningful technical and organizational outcomes.
Location: Vancouver – Canada (Hybrid)
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers to design, develop, and deliver scalable, high-quality applications.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to define and execute on the product roadmap.
- Architect and implement robust, secure, and maintainable backend and frontend solutions.
- Establish and improve CI/CD pipelines and engineering processes that ensure reliable releases.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to balance priorities and deliver high-impact features.
- Guide the team through technical decisions, ensuring sound architectural choices and trade-offs.
- Define and enforce coding standards, documentation, and best practices across the team.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Foster a collaborative culture that encourages innovation, learning, and accountability.
- Participate in hiring and help scale the engineering organization for future growth.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, with a track record of delivering scalable applications.
- 4+ years of Cloud Experience: Azure (preferred) / AWS / GCP.
- Proven experience leading and mentoring engineers, providing feedback, and driving project execution
- Strong expertise in modern web technologies (React, Django, FastAPI, Node.js, .NET, or similar) and RESTful API design.
- Familiarity with relational databases and data modeling (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles and agile delivery methodologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in healthcare systems or compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) is highly desirable.
Strong Candidates Will have:
- Experience working with healthcare applications or integrations using HL7/FHIR standards.
- Background in building scalable Python SaaS applications, microservices, and frontend platforms in a regulated industry.
- Proven success in driving technical strategy and improving team effectiveness.
- Passion for mentoring engineers, fostering innovation, and cultivating an inclusive engineering culture.
