About the Position
As a member of the EMEA Solutions team at Energy Exemplar, the ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of expertise in power market fundamentals, energy system modelling, and market analysis. This role is suited for someone who is passionate about the evolving electricity sector and understands how modelling and data-driven insights inform decision-making across utilities, system operators, regulators, and other market participants.

This is a unique opportunity to work closely with key stakeholders in the electricity and power sector, helping them unlock the full potential of Energy Exemplar’s PLEXOS software and contribute to the transformation of energy systems across the EMEA region.
This role has two primary objectives:
- Deliver tailored support and solutions: Collaborate with customers to ensure PLEXOS effectively supports a wide range of power market applications — from long-term capacity expansion and policy evaluation to short-term operational planning and reliability analysis.
- Support business development and thought leadership in the power sector: Generate market insights, deliver technical demonstrations, and provide domain expertise during the sales process to promote the adoption of PLEXOS across organisations involved in electricity market planning, operations, and policy.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to power market stakeholders, supporting them in building, refining, and validating PLEXOS models for planning and analysis.
- Lead requirements sessions to understand customer objectives, modelling workflows, and decision-making needs.
- Design and implement tailored PLEXOS modelling approaches for price forecasting, dispatch, congestion, and resource adequacy assessments.
- Provide best-practice guidance for electricity market modelling across timeframes and regions.
- Validate model outputs against real-world market behaviour and recommend improvements to assumptions and methodologies.
- Develop, test, and calibrate models to support long-term planning and operational decisions.
- Train customers on PLEXOS for strategic analysis, regulatory reporting, and policy evaluation.
- Support business development by demonstrating PLEXOS to prospective customers and producing Proof-of-Concept studies.
- Deliver presentations, workshops, and technical demonstrations to a range of industry stakeholders.
- Provide feedback to the product team on emerging market needs and modelling use cases.
- Conduct market research and publish insights on trends such as renewables integration, storage, hydrogen, and grid flexibility.
- Produce original studies and share insights through webinars, industry events, and written publications.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Economics, Operations Research, or a related field; specialisation in electricity systems/markets preferred
- 4+ years’ experience in energy markets with strong grounding in market fundamentals, economics, system operations, or engineering
- Experience with energy market modelling, including optimisation/unit-commitment tools (e.g., PLEXOS, BID3, Antares, SDDP, PROMOD)
- Ability to build rapport and engage confidently with stakeholders
- Proficiency with corporate productivity, web-presentation tools, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage competing deadlines
- Self-driven, results-oriented, and quality-focused mindset
- Strong organisational skills and a sense of urgency in achieving goals
