About the Position
The Team Lead, Solutions, works as part of the APAC solutions team and is primarily responsible for leading and coordinating pre-sales and implementation support for the Japan sales team. The position will be responsible for engaging directly with both potential and existing clients to communicate technical features of the products and how the products can play a role in the client’s strategies.
A key part of this role involves leading and mentoring a team of technical experts to deliver an outstanding experience for our continuously growing client base and prospects through market research, technical discussions, model development, demonstrations, and implementation projects. The position is supported by strong training, coaching, and mentoring and provides opportunities for professional growth and career advancement. Not only will the person in this role have advanced technical skills and deep industry knowledge in the energy sector, but they will also have strong people skills and be passionate about working with and developing, others through to the achievement of desirable objectives.
Drive Sales and Team Outcomes
- Drive and measure key response metrics for the Solutions team including research tasks, technical delivery and engineering practices
- Create and encourage a culture of excellent technical service
- Use sound judgement to escalate issues when necessary
- Coordinate efforts to achieve outstanding results
Lead and Mentor the Solutions Team in Japan
- Responsibility for managing, with the support of the Head of Solution (APAC) and Performance and Culture team, operational functions of the Solutions team in Japan, including:
- Performance reviews and management
- Leave approvals and management
- Career progression and competency development discussions and management
- Workload allocation and distribution
- Resolution of any people-related issues that may arise
- Network effectively with other EE departments to leverage knowledge across other teams and global resources
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in mathematics, engineering, economics or other related quantitative field. Minimum Bachelors but Masters or above would be desirable.
- Achieved N1-level proficiency on the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (advanced/near-native Japanese)
Technical
- Deep domain expertise in the Japan energy market, including power market fundamentals, regulatory landscape, and commercial dynamics
- Understanding of emerging technologies and how this is likely to impact the industry.
- Understanding of various Mathematical Programming methods and how they are used.
- Experience using PLEXOS and excellent understanding of how it is used and its capability.
- If no direct PLEXOS experience, candidate must be able to demonstrate solid knowledge of, and experience in using, other market simulation software tools or programs.
- Has at least basic knowledge of scripting / coding languages.
- Understanding cloud environments in which our cloud and SaaS products reside.
Non-Technical
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal and technical communication skills with ability to communicate complex issues clearly, credibly, and with confidence.
- Knowledge of general customer service principles is required. Candidate must be genuinely passionate about working with the internal team to deliver an outstanding service to our customers and helping to resolve their complex technical issues.
- Good knowledge of various problem-solving techniques with ability to analyse situations and apply critical thinking to decide appropriate courses of action and implement solutions to overcome challenges and deliver valuable outcomes.
- Commercial acumen with understanding of general business principals and the impact of business decisions on broader business functions and environment.
- Emotional intelligence with ability to recognise one’s own feelings and those of others to appropriately manage those emotions when responding to different situations.
- Direct people leadership experience is preferred but not essential. Either way, the candidate for this role must have the passion and desire to develop and lead a team and be prepared to invest the time and effort to develop their own leadership and mentoring capability with the support of the business.
- Knowledge of change-management principles with experience in applying these principles to lead the implementation of a business, process or technical change. The candidate must also be resilient and adaptable to change.
- Passionate about working with others to achieve goals. Must have the ability to build strong relationships with others and be a natural collaborator.
