Role Overview


The VP, Global Grid Modeling is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing Energy Exemplar’s global data strategy across electricity, gas, hydrogen, and emerging energy markets. This role leads a distributed, high-performing team of data, modelling, and analytics professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, simulation-ready datasets that power PLEXOS and support critical decision-making across the global energy ecosystem.
Reporting to the executive leadership team, the VP combines strategic vision with deep domain expertise to drive innovation, scalability, and consistency across regional data functions. This role is instrumental in aligning data initiatives with product development, insights, and go-to-market strategies, while ensuring global standards, governance, and operational excellence. The VP will act as a thought leader within the industry, positioning Energy Exemplar at the forefront of energy data, modelling, and analytics, while enabling customers to navigate the complexities of the energy transition with confidence.


Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership & Strategy
•    Define and lead the global data and insights strategy, aligning regional execution with company-wide priorities and long-term growth objectives.
•    Build, lead, and inspire a global organisation of data, modelling, and analytics professionals across multiple regions.
•    Establish a high-performance culture that promotes innovation, accountability, and continuous development.
•    Partner with executive stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Insights, and Go-to-Market to ensure alignment and impact.
•    Drive investment decisions, resource allocation, and organisational design to scale global data capabilities.
Data & Product Excellence
•    Oversee the global development, standardisation, and delivery of simulation-ready datasets within PLEXOS.
•    Ensure consistency, accuracy, and scalability of datasets across regions, maintaining best-in-class quality standards.
•    Champion the adoption of advanced technologies, including AI/ML, to enhance modelling capability and data efficiency.
•    Guide the evolution of datasets across electricity, gas, hydrogen, and emerging energy sectors, incorporating decarbonisation trends and market innovation.
•    Collaborate closely with Product teams to integrate data seamlessly into platform features, Insights, and Playbook offerings.
Global Governance & Quality Assurance
•    Establish and enforce global data governance frameworks, standards, and validation processes.
•    Ensure data integrity, reliability, and compliance across all markets and datasets.
•    Drive continuous improvement in data pipelines, tooling, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Customer & Market Leadership
•    Engage with key global customers and partners to understand evolving modelling and forecasting needs.
•    Translate customer requirements into strategic data roadmaps and product enhancements.
•    Support commercial teams in high-impact engagements, including executive briefings, proposals, and strategic deals.


Key Requirements
•    15+ years of experience in data, modelling, analytics, or related functions within the energy, utilities, or technology sectors, including significant leadership at a regional or global level.
•    Proven track record of leading and scaling high-performing, geographically distributed teams, with the ability to influence through multiple layers of leadership.
•    Deep expertise in global energy markets, including electricity, gas, and emerging sectors such as hydrogen and renewables, with strong understanding of market dynamics, trading structures, and regulatory environments.
•    Demonstrated experience in energy market modelling, ideally with PLEXOS or comparable simulation platforms, and strong knowledge of supply/demand fundamentals, capacity planning, and price formation.
•    Strong strategic capability with experience defining and executing global data strategies, including governance, standardisation, and operational scaling.
•    Experience driving data innovation, including the application of AI/ML, automation, and advanced analytics to improve data quality, efficiency, and insight generation.
•    Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience partnering at executive level internally and with customers.
•    Commercially astute, with the ability to translate customer needs into scalable data products and support revenue growth initiatives.
•    Strong leadership presence with the ability to represent the organisation externally as a thought leader in energy data and analytics.
•    Degree in Engineering, Economics, Energy Systems, Data Science, or a related discipline
