Process Safety Engineer

We are currently seeking a Process Safety Engineer to work full-time in our Atlanta, GA; Jackson, MS; Charleston, SC; Knoxville, TN; or Memphis, TN office. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base across industries including chemical manufacturing, aerospace, pulp and paper, automotive, oil and gas, and industrial manufacturing.

As a Process Safety Engineer, you will partner directly with clients to improve process safety performance, support regulatory compliance, and reduce operational risk. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of projects involving OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), EPA Risk Management Programs (RMP), process hazard analyses, and industrial safety programs. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will:

  • Support the development, implementation, and auditing of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), including HAZOP studies and other risk assessment methodologies.
  • Assist with PSM compliance audits and evaluations of OSHA PSM program elements.
  • Develop and maintain process safety information documentation.
  • Support the development and implementation of mechanical integrity programs.
  • Prepare standard operating procedures and process safety documentation.
  • Deliver and support PSM-related training initiatives.
  • Assist clients with Management of Change (MOC) programs and procedures.
  • Support EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) audits and compliance efforts.
  • Participate in combustible dust hazard assessments and other industrial safety evaluations.
  • Provide technical support to client operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings and recommendations to client leadership.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 1-3 years of experience in process safety, industrial safety, chemical manufacturing, engineering consulting, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Experience supporting PSM programs, PHAs, HAZOPs, RMPs, or related process safety initiatives is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work directly with clients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight, up to approximately 75% as project demands require.

Preferred Skills:

  • EIT certification
