Director of Strategy Services

Purpose: To provide expert guidance, innovative strategies, and strategic direction to clients, ensuring their goals are met through comprehensive and tailored approaches.

Reports to: Managing Director, Managing Partners

Direct Reports: Research Analyst, Associate(s)

We are seeking a former director who has managed teams of two or more, with substantial experience in nonprofit management and strategic planning. Visionary and aspirational, yet practical and results-driven, you should be adept at moving projects forward. Nonprofit experience is essential. We want someone eager to learn Envision’s products and services and motivated to elevate our impact to new heights. As a self-starter with experience in high-demand, multifaceted industries, you excel at meticulous planning, documentation, and presenting outstanding reports and presentations. You are a hands-on learner and a team player ready to shape our brand and culture with creativity and passion. You thrive on face-to-face interaction and are enthusiastic about in-person collaboration. At Envision, we prioritize working together in our Pasadena office for optimal teamwork and innovation.

Core Responsibilities:

Client Engagement

• Serve as Project Lead on strategy projects including but not limited to Strategic Planning, Partnership Exploration, and Board Development Retreats.
• Collaborate closely with clients to understand their goals, challenges, and aspirations.
• Build strong, trust-based relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Develop and provide clients with effective tools and solutions for their success.

Project Management

• Set clear expectations, design, and monitor timelines for strategy projects.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Thought Leadership

• Support the design and continuous improvement of Envision's strategic services.
• Identify opportunities for new service offerings based on market trends and client needs.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging strategies within the nonprofit sector.
• Share knowledge and expertise through thought leadership activities such as writing articles, delivering presentations, and participating in conferences.

Business Development

• Secure strategy projects by identifying potential clients and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Prepare and present proposals to prospective clients.

Leader in the Field

• Serve as a spokesperson for Envision Consulting.
• Present at conferences and produce webinars.
• Map and influence industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Background in Nonprofit Leadership & Management or a related discipline.
• 5-10 years of experience at the director level within the nonprofit sector.
• Ability to handle difficult conversations positively and focus on constructive solutions.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional analytical skills and experience in managing and problem-solving projects.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• A sense of humor and the ability to maintain a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in a related field.
• Established network within the nonprofit sector.
• Demonstrated thought leadership through published articles or conference presentations.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, in-person position based in Pasadena, California. Paid vacation, sick, and holiday time. Salary Range is commensurate with experience. Simple IRA with 2% employer contribution.
