Here is how the Air/Climate Intern role will impact our business:
The Air/Climate intern will support the completion of state and federal air emissions inventories and climate reports, assist with data collection and analysis, and contribute to ongoing environmental compliance initiatives.
The Air/Climate Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collect and organize activity data from operations (e.g., stack test, gas analysis, fuel use) for use in emissions calculations.
- Perform emissions calculations for criteria pollutants, greenhouse gases (GHGs), and hazardous air pollutants using established methods and emission factors.
- Assist in preparing annual emissions inventory reports for submission to state and federal agencies.
- Maintain and update emissions tracking spreadsheets and databases.
- Conduct quality control and verification of data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support environmental compliance audits and air permit recordkeeping.
- Participate in environmental projects related to air quality, sustainability, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with EHS staff, engineers, and operations personnel to understand emission sources and control technologies.
Required Experience and Skills:
- A background in Environmental and/or Data Science is preferred
- Required degree: Bachelor of Science or pending
- Desired experience:
- Understanding of environmental air/emission indicators
- Proficiency with data quality assurance (QA) and validation of large datasets
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, and/or PowerBI
- Ability to integrate data into centralized databases or dashboards
