Your Role
As a Senior Data Engineer with Evergreen Nephrology, you are responsible for designing and scaling our Databricks-based data platform. This is a hands-on and strategic role responsible for building robust data pipelines, modeling multi-source data (claims, EMR/EHR, HIE, HIN), and implementing governance, quality, and lineage frameworks. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer with strong skills in SQL, Python, Databricks and health care data modeling who can lead technical decisions, mentor the team, and partner with business and analytics stakeholders to deliver a secure and scalable platform that enables advanced analytics and AI.
Role Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain Databricks-based data pipelines to integrate healthcare data (claims, clinical, operational)
- Design and implement scalable data models and subject-area data marts
- Implement data quality, lineage, security, and compliance frameworks
- Optimize platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Mentor and guide data engineers, setting coding standards and best practices
- Collaborate with analytics, product, and business teams to deliver data solutions
- Other duties consistent with this role, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other quantitative discipline
- 8 years of technology experience
- 5 years of data experience within the healthcare industry
- Proven experience designing and building data pipelines on Databricks
- Strong expertise in SQL and Python for data transformations, validation, and automation
- Deep understanding of data modeling techniques, best practices, and specifics of healthcare data
- Experience integrating healthcare data sources such as claims, EMR/EHR, and HIE feeds
- FHIR knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of data governance, lineage, security, and HIPAA compliance requirements
- Ability to optimize performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Experience mentoring engineers and establishing coding and architecture standards
- Strong collaboration skills to work with analytics, product, and business stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Intermediate skills with MS Office Suite of products including Outlook and Teams
- Able to work effectively in a primarily remote environment:
- Home internet must support a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps. Cable, Fiber, or DSL connections hardwired to the internet device are recommended
- Evergreen will provide remote employees with telephony applications and equipment to meet the business requirements for their role
- Employees must work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
Compensation
The pay range for this role is $100,000 to $130,000 annually. Exact pay is determined based on experience, education, demand for the role, and other role-specific factors.
This role is also eligible for an annual bonus.
