About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivating Manager, Authoring to join leadership of our educational content team. You will be responsible for guiding and mentoring a team of content authors, ensuring all materials meet the highest standards of quality, accessibility, and pedagogical effectiveness. This role requires a blend of creative oversight, operational excellence, and industry expertise, with a special focus on change management and leveraging AI and technology to drive content innovation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Strategy & Oversight: Execute strategic development of content across products, ensuring all is consistent and aligned with company-wide educational and technical standards. Lead the content team's adherence to evidence-based practices, ensuring all instructional materials are grounded in the latest educational research and aligned with the company's pedagogical approach.

 

  • Workflow & Project Management: Collaborate with managers to oversee and prioritize the content team's project portfolio, ensuring all projects are on track and resources are allocated effectively to meet organizational goals. Design and implement project management processes and tools to enhance team efficiency, improve forecasting, and ensure consistent on-time delivery.

 

  • AI & Technology Integration: Lead the team in adopting and implementing AI for content generation. Oversee the strategic integration of AI tools into the content production pipeline, identifying opportunities for innovation and ensuring ethical and effective use across the team. Provide and communicate detailed feedback on AI tool functionality and usability to cross-functional teams, helping to propose and implement improvements.

 

  • Team Leadership & Development: Guide and mentor the content team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching to support the professional growth of each team member, aligning individual development with team goals. Lead the team through changes in project scope and company priorities, implementing effective change management strategies to ensure seamless transitions and continuous productivity.

 

  • Quality & Standards: Oversee the content review process and provide strategic guidance, ensuring all materials meet the highest standards of quality and align with the company's educational and brand guidelines. Lead the development and implementation of best practices for accessibility and neurodiversity, ensuring all content produced meets the highest standards and that the team is well-equipped to apply these guidelines.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in a content management or leadership role within the K-12 education or ed tech sector.
  • Deep expertise in educational content development, differentiation, and supporting neurodiverse learners
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, teams, and resources effectively.
  • Experience with AI content generation tools and a strategic understanding of their application in an educational context.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • A passion for creating high-quality, accessible, and inclusive educational content for all learners.

Desirable Criteria

  • Understanding of instructional design principles
  • Experience with complex needs
