Position Summary

Excel Sports Management is looking for a highly motivated and resourceful legal coordinator to join the growing Legal division. Based in our New York office, you will be responsible for supporting the General Counsel and the legal team in administrative tasks, individual research projects, and database management. This coordinator will play a critical role within the team and requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the fast-paced and dynamic world of sports law, where you will help ensure the day-to-day administration of the legal department.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist General Counsel with day-to-day tasks, specifically the management of the General Counsel’s calendar, daily agenda, and priorities.
  • Help maintain databases, including but not limited to:
    • Company-wide athlete agent registration;
    • Legal invoice tracking;
    • Legal Department cloud file storage;
  • Document management:
    • Organize and maintain legal files.
    • Manage a repository for fully-executed contracts.
    • Ensure all documents are filed and updated in accordance with standards.
  • General assistance to the department in special and ongoing projects.
  • Compliance assistance with state-specific Athlete Agent Registration across all talent representation divisions.
  • Support the legal team in managing disputes, pre-litigation negotiations and adversarial proceedings.
  • Research legal topics as assigned by General Counsel and legal team.
  • Liaison between the Finance and Legal department to track invoice payments in connection with outside legal counsel.
  • Assist with travel arrangements for Legal Team
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS from an accredited University or College, and/or recent law school grads.
  • 1+ years experience in an office assistant role, preferably in a sports agency, team, league or other sports organization, entertainment law firm, or a similar fast-paced environment.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Resourceful, curious, and ability to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
  • Outstanding organizational and presentation skills with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Interest in law, understanding of talent representation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • High level of commitment to quality of work product, ethics, integrity, and compliance
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences, both written and verbally
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times

 

The pay range for this position is: $65,000- $70,000 per year.This position is also eligible for benefits and discretionary bonus

Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Salary Transparency Law. 

Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
