The ideal candidate has a strong aesthetic sensibility, thrives in high-volume environments, and has experience overseeing junior creatives, calendars, and cross-functional execution.
This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys both creative output and creative operations—able to own product categories while managing the day-to-day needs of the design team.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Execution

Translate trend direction, merchant feedback, and customer insights into commercially relevant product
-
Partner with Merchandising, Product Development, and Tech to align on execution, cost, and delivery
-
Conduct market research and shop comps to support line planning and identify whitespace opportunities
Team Leadership & Management
-
Act as the Design Manager’s delegate in team leadership, day-to-day management, and decision making
-
Manage and mentor junior designers, assistants, and freelancers; provide feedback on development and creative performance
-
Assist with hiring and onboarding design talent; identify skill gaps and growth needs
-
Maintain team morale, professionalism, and accountability through a supportive and structured environment
Project & Calendar Management
-
Own day-to-day execution of the design calendar, ensuring team deliverables are completed on time
-
Serve as point of contact for cross-functional partners in the absence of the Design Manager
-
Help prioritize workload, resolve bandwidth conflicts, and triage issues as needed to keep projects moving
-
Collaborate with leadership to identify process improvements and implement team best practices
Licensing & Brand Alignment
-
Ensure all work meets the creative and technical expectations of both internal brand goals and external licensors (where applicable)
-
Participate in internal and external meetings/presentations, showcasing work and representing team priorities
Skills & Qualifications:
-
8–10+ years of apparel design experience, preferably in volume-driven or licensed brand environments
-
Strong portfolio demonstrating commercial, trend-aware product across sportswear, casualwear, or related categories
-
Prior team leadership experience—mentoring, giving feedback, and/or helping manage workflow
-
Comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-brand, multi-calendar environment
-
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator/Photoshop) and PLM systems (Centric preferred)
