Position Overview: 

FastSpring is seeking a tax intern who is motivated to learn, excited to collaborate, and passionate about delivering outstanding results to join our Tax team.

In this position, you will work directly with our Tax Manager to support the organization’s tax compliance worldwide by assisting with indirect tax compliance activities, reconciling tax accounts, and other tax related projects. To be successful, we need someone who is a self-starter, organized with strong attention to detail, and can deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

This internship is designed to be long-term, ideally running 9-12 months, at 20 hours/ week. This role is 100% remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with recurring indirect tax compliance activities to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns. This includes monthly US sales tax filings and international VAT/GST filings on a monthly, bi-monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Assist with reconciling tax payable accounts and ensure accurate financial records.
  • Assist in gathering information requests from various departments, external auditors, and tax authorities.
  • Support the tax team in various ad-hoc projects and tasks.
  • Assist in drafting write-ups and memos on technical indirect or direct tax matters specific to FastSpring.
  • Engage in existing process improvement and tax automation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred additional qualifications:

  • Licensed CPA, or on path to being licensed.
  • Indirect tax experience is a plus.
  • Tax and/or accounting software experience is a plus.
  • Strong tax research and data analytic skills.

The base pay range below represents a good faith estimate of the low and high end base pay range for the listed position. This role may be eligible for the corporate bonus plan (or, if a sales role, a commission plan as defined in the sales incentive plan document). In addition, FastSpring provides a variety of benefits to employees.
