Job Summary
The Set Piece Coach is responsible for designing, implementing, and leading all set piece strategies across the first team. This role blends tactical expertise, on-field coaching leadership, and detailed opposition analysis to maximize the team’s effectiveness in attacking and defending set piece situations. The coach will work closely with the Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, Performance Analysis Department, and Data Analytics Staff to ensure set piece principles are fully integrated into the team’s training and match preparation
What You’ll Do:
- On-field Coaching & Leadership
- Lead all set piece instruction during training sessions, including attacking and defensive routines, restarts, and transitional structures.
- Deliver clear, high energy coaching interventions that translate concepts into actionable player behaviors.
- Collaborate with the Coaching Staff to embed set piece principles into daily training and match day preparation.
- Manage set piece walk throughs, unit specific sessions, and pre-match rehearsals.
- Set Piece Design & Planning
- Develop a comprehensive set piece playbook aligned with the team’s tactical identity.
- Create innovative routines that leverage player strengths and opponent vulnerabilities.
- Maintain a structured seasonal plan for set piece development, progression, and review.
- Opposition Scouting & Analysis
- Conduct detailed analysis of opposition set piece tendencies, threats, and weaknesses.
- Prepare video clips, presentations, and briefing materials for players and staff.
- Track team performance metrics (xG from set pieces, delivery quality, duel success, second ball outcomes) to inform continuous improvement.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with analysts to ensure all set piece designs are grounded in data insights, opposition scouting findings, and evidence-based trends.
- Communicate expectations clearly to players, ensuring roles and responsibilities are understood and executed consistently.
- Participate in staff meetings, match day planning, and post-match reviews.
What You’ll Need:
- Relevant coaching licenses preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in set piece design, analysis, and on-field instruction.
- Strong understanding of modern set piece tactics and trends.
- Proficiency with video analysis tools and data platforms.
