Strategic Finance & Operations Lead

New York, NY; San Mateo, CA

About Us:

At Fireworks, we’re building the future of generative AI infrastructure. Our platform delivers the highest-quality models with the fastest and most scalable inference in the industry. We’ve been independently benchmarked as the leader in LLM inference speed and are driving cutting-edge innovation through projects like our own function calling and multimodal models. Fireworks is a Series C company valued at $4 billion and backed by top investors including Benchmark, Sequoia, Lightspeed, Index, and Evantic. We’re an ambitious, collaborative team of builders, founded by veterans of Meta PyTorch and Google Vertex AI.

The Role

As Strategic Finance & Operations Lead, you'll sit at the intersection of revenue, go-to-market, and financial strategy — owning the financial models, pricing frameworks, and operational processes that power Fireworks' commercial engine. This is a high-visibility, high-ownership role that works directly with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Engineering leaders to drive deals forward and help the business scale intelligently.

If you love turning ambiguity into structured frameworks and enjoy being the finance partner who actually accelerates revenue (not just reports on it) — this is your role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own forecasting, planning / target setting, and budgeting processes for the sales organization, partnering closely with senior sales leaders
  • Build dynamic financial and operating models to evaluate new sales strategies and pricing models, accelerating topline growth while balancing competitiveness with margin health
  • Drive deal-desk, work closely with sales team on customer contracts, with cross collaboration with engineering, product, and finance to operationalize and recognize new product offers
  • Identify and drive opportunities for process automation, bringing structure with a continuous lens of improvement to reduce friction and cycle time
  • Support Sales leaders with funnel analysis and pipeline visibility for sales-led accounts, turning CRM data into actionable financial insight
  • Support revenue and demand forecasting, necessary for resource allocation and planning for cross-functional stakeholders across GTM, Engineering, and Product
  • Assist with capital planning efforts, corporate finance, or investor relations, as needed

Who You Are

  • A structured thinker who moves fast. You can build a rigorous model from scratch and ship it before the week is over.
  • A cross-functional operator. You're equally comfortable in a product roadmap discussion, a sales deal review, and a finance close meeting — and you know how to earn trust across each.
  • A business partner, not a scorekeeper. You don't just report what happened; you help shape what happens next.
  • Detail-obsessed but never lost in the weeds. You hold yourself to a high standard of accuracy and can also zoom out to tell the story behind the numbers.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. Fireworks is scaling fast. You'll build processes and frameworks where none currently exist.

Qualifications

Required

  • 4+ years of experience in strategic finance, investment banking, or management consulting
  • Demonstrated experience building financial models from scratch
  • Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience working with CRM data (Salesforce or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication skills — able to translate financial analysis into clear recommendations for non-finance audiences
  • Experience or strong interest in using AI agents and tooling to develop efficient workstreams that deliver high-quality results

Preferred

  • Experience at a high-growth SaaS or infrastructure company; prior exposure to usage-based pricing models is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with revenue recognition principles and billing systems
  • Experience designing or administering sales compensation plans
  • Comfort working with highly technical data and familiarity with SQL / BigQuery to pull and analyze data independently
