Head of Insurance Agency Operations

Jersey City

Since 2017, Flourish has been on a mission to help financial advisors better secure the financial futures of their clients. We focus on independent Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), delivering financial products that advisors can’t easily access today through beautiful, scalable, and easy-to-use technology.

Today, we work with over 850 RIAs that collectively represent more than $1.5T in assets under management across two products: Flourish Annuities and Flourish Cash. Headquartered in New York City, we are an independently-operating, wholly-owned subsidiary of MassMutual Life Insurance Company.

Read on if you are interested in joining a small, highly-collaborative, rapidly-growing startup—backed by the support and stability of a Fortune 500 company.

About You

You are a process-oriented operations leader who thrives on building and managing efficient processes. You have deep knowledge of insurance agency operations paired with the strategic thinking needed to build out procedures from the ground up. You thrive in fast-paced organizations and can provide clear direction while managing competing priorities.

You’re equally adept at working with internal partners across the organization as you are in gracefully handling complicated communication directly with clients. You’re excited to join a small team at a fast-paced fintech startup, as you are extremely self-motivated, an excellent communicator, love identifying and solving problems, and are motivated by the prospect of driving change in the insurance industry. As the head of the team, you are excited to wear multiple hats and are always willing to roll up your sleeves and lend a helping hand. Knowing that collaboration is key, you work closely with like-minded individuals to solve problems and contribute to team objectives.

About the Role

We recently launched Flourish Annuities, leveraging a technology-driven insurance desk to bring annuities to the independent RIA space. You will work closely across the Flourish organization in a highly dynamic and entrepreneurial role as we continue to enhance our product offering. You will collaborate with various teams in designing, refining, implementing, and managing the operational workflows and processes for the insurance agency to process all annuity transactions. • Support RIAs and end-clients as needed, including: answering product and operational questions, helping to drive application completion, and supporting on-going contract servicing
    • Focus on process improvement, refining processes over time to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the team
  • Manage workstreams on behalf of the insurance desk to support product development and enhancements, collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales and Marketing to deliver results
  • Own management of our suitability program and conduct suitability reviews for insurance applications on an as-needed basis
  • Foster deep relationships with key operations contacts at RIA firms and insurance carrier partners
  • Partner with legal and compliance to ensure the insurance agency is consistently up to date with the overall insurance regulatory landscape in order to maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance
  • Ensure compliance for insurance agency staff with carrier appointment and education requirements
  • Collaborate with the Head of Flourish Insurance Agency and Flourish executives to ensure the insurance agency service model is supporting our key strategic initiatives
  • Identify, track and report key Flourish Annuities metrics and performance indicators to leadership
  • Stay on top of current industry trends and share insights and ideas with the broader team

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
