Staff Accountant
Foundation Risk Partners, one of the fastest growing insurance brokerage and consulting firms in the US, is adding a Staff Accountant to their Ormond Beach, FL office.
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for timely remittance of insurance premiums, taxes, and fees and providing accounting, financial, and clerical/administrative services with a high degree of accuracy in a dynamic business environment. The Staff Accountant supports general ledger operations by performing accounting services related to preparing, analyzing, maintaining and reviewing various financial statements, records, and reports.
Essential Functions:
- Daily, or as scheduled, remittance of insurance premiums, taxes, and fees per carrier statements or brokerage invoices, including the offset or collection of return premium, taxes, and fees per published workflows, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Communication with Branch Servicing Personnel on billing discrepancies, open Accounts Receivable balances, or other related issues.
- Reconciliation of Agency Bill invoices to Insurance and Brokerage company invoices and statements.
- OneVertafore point of contact for assigned Insurance and Brokerage companies; Cultivate good working relationship with accounting contacts for efficiency in processing and handling of exception items.
- Monitoring and timely processing of FRP Vertafore AB Statements email inbox.
- Timely completion or ‘date forwarding’ of Suspense items, including documentation for follow-up.
- Prepares monthly general and standard journal entries, income and balance sheet and various ad hoc accounting statements and reports; provide interpretation of results as appropriate.
- Performs A/P and A/R functions including generating aging reports, posting of payments and bills, invoicing, and processing checks.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures to include various reconciliations, payroll accruals, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, etc.
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of Insurance Accounting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated willingness and ability to work across multiple Teams, Branch offices, and third-party vendors.
- Strong MS Office technical skills i.e.: Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams;
Education & Experience:
- BA or BS degree in accounting or a related field is highly desirable.
- Minimum 5 years related experience in general accounting.
