Freenome is looking for a Vice President, Sales, as a key member of our rapidly developing Commercial team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in developing and leading high-performance sales organizations in the specialty diagnostics industry. This role offers a unique opportunity to be on the cutting edge of helping to develop and deploy this game-changing early disease detection technology that will revolutionize patient care and outcomes.

In this role, you will be instrumental in defining and executing the sales strategy to drive significant market adoption of Freenome’s innovative diagnostic solutions. This individual will build, develop, and lead a sales team to get life-saving tests to patients. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will contribute to guiding and refining company-level strategy. Your commitment to patient care and access will significantly contribute to our growth and our mission to outpace cancer with early detection.

This role will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and will serve as a vital part of the Commercial Leadership Team (CLT). This is a remote role with the requirement to travel up to 50% of the time. 

What you’ll do:

Sales Strategy & Performance

  • Direct overall sales efforts to achieve orders, revenue, expense, and market share goals.
  • Be accountable for the execution of sales strategy and the overall sales team's performance, ensuring the delivery of sales targets at or above plan across all defined market segments.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive, data-driven sales strategies and tactical plans to maximize market penetration and revenue growth for Freenome’s products, segments, and markets.
  • Set and regularly monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), manage sales forecasts, budgets, and ensure the efficient and effective resource allocation to achieve commercial objectives.

Team Building & Leadership

  • Build a team of high-performance, experienced Strategic Account Executives (SAEs) and Physician Sales Representatives (PSRs) capable of navigating complex commercial landscapes and driving adoption within large health systems and physician practices.
  • Coach and develop the sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and deep customer focus.
  • Utilize strong leadership and collaboration skills to serve as a trusted and key contributor to Freenome's Commercial Leadership Team (CLT), the commercial organization as a whole, and the rapidly developing broader organization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Market Insights

  • Proactively partner with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Operations to ensure alignment across the commercial organization, supporting product launch and early commercialization efforts.
  • Provide essential market intelligence, competitive analysis, and customer feedback to inform product development, market access, and commercial strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, major health systems, and high-value customers.

Must haves:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 15+ years of commercial experience in diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, or biotech; specialty diagnostics experience required.
  • 10+ years in sales leadership with direct responsibility for building and leading high-performance sales organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in leading sales teams to consistently meet or exceed targets.
  • Passion for getting in the trenches through hands-on leadership, leading by example, and building from the ground up.
  • Experience in cancer or preventative screening, primary care, oncology, and/or consumer sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem, including clinical workflows, customer types (HCPs, patients, IDNs), and their business models.
  • Proven track record in recruiting, developing, and retaining high-caliber sales talent.
  • Highly collaborative with strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to craft and clearly convey the company’s story compellingly to diverse audiences.

Nice to haves:

  • SF Bay Area residency is a plus but not mandatory.
  • An MBA is advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience in a company that has successfully launched a novel diagnostic platform.
  • Experience working with both strategic accounts (IDNs, large health systems) and physician-level selling.

Benefits and additional information:

The US target range of our base salary for new hires is $234,175 - $368,250. You will also be eligible to receive equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered.  Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to, location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
