YOUR DAILY ADVENTURES WILL INCLUDE:
- Engage with local, regional, and national government, parliament, and public officials on legislative and regulatory processes for taxi/ride-hailing, autonomous vehicles, online platforms, data, tax, and sustainability policies.
- Proactively identify opportunities to shape policies and legislation, and lead on research and drafting of written submissions to consultations and position papers.
- Build constructive relationships with regulators and governments to ensure Freenow by Lyft is recognized as a thought leader on the future of on-demand urban transport.
- Provide strategic insight to the business on government policy and trends, political developments, and dynamics from local government, think-tanks, and trade associations.
- Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders (including senior leadership and cross-functional teams) and external parties (policymakers, industry associations) to convey information, influence decisions, and negotiate positions on complex issues.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:
- Have a minimum of 5 years of public affairs experience, preferably in the transport sector and/or working in government.
- Be experienced in developing creative and effective public policy campaigns that underpin the company’s business objectives.
- Possess excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to adapt the message to political and regulatory audiences.
- Demonstrate outstanding organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage several different work streams at one time, proactively drive work programs, and coordinate the involvement of relevant stakeholders.
- Have experience with managing sensitive reputational issues and/or crises.
- Be a strong networker and passionate about transport policy development, seeing the big picture while understanding issues and dynamics at the local level.
- Possess experience in managing senior stakeholders and working in cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of the Parliamentary process, legislative and regulatory environment, and the UK and London political environment is essential.
