The Role

We're hiring a Billing Associate to own the day-to-day billing and invoicing function at Recast. You'll work closely with our Operations lead, who currently handles billing, accounting, finance, and client and employee onboarding. As Recast grows, billing is a function that needs its own dedicated, detail-oriented owner — that's where you come in.

Recast is a fast-moving startup. That means processes are still being built, playbooks aren't always written, and the right person here will be comfortable operating without a lot of structure — figuring things out, asking sharp questions, and improving the way things run as they go. This is a great fit for someone who's genuinely smart, self-directed, and gets satisfaction from clean books, accurate invoices, and quietly making sure nothing slips through the cracks — without needing to be told what to do next.

What you'll do

  • Prepare and send client invoices accurately and on schedule
  • Review and apply each client's contract terms, billing frequency, and payment schedule when raising invoices
  • Maintain accurate billing records and keep client billing details up to date
  • Follow up on outstanding invoices and flag overdue accounts
  • Resolve billing questions and discrepancies with clients in a professional, responsive way
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders on contract changes, renewals, and any billing-related updates
  • Support month-end close activities tied to billing and accounts receivable
  • Build, improve, and document billing processes as Recast scales — much of this will be greenfield

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years of experience in US based billing, accounts receivable, or finance operations role
  • Smart, curious, and quick to pick up new tools, processes, and context
  • A genuine self-starter who thrives in an unstructured environment — someone who can figure out what needs doing and just do it
  • Strong attention to detail — particularly with numbers, terms, and contract language
  • Confident written communication; comfortable corresponding with clients over email
  • Comfort working in billing/accounting tools (e.g. QuickBooks, Stripe, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage a recurring monthly workload without being chased
  • Comfortable in a fully remote, async-leaning environment

Nice to have

  • Experience at an early-stage or fast-growing startup
  • Experience billing in a SaaS or subscription-based business
  • Exposure to multi-currency or international invoicing
