Principal Software Quality Engineer
Summary:
The Principal Software Quality Engineer is part of a hybrid development team. You will be a member of our e-Commerce software team delivering high quality, reliable software in a collaborative environment. This is a very senior role focused on leading a QA team, creating QA processes and being hands-on testing the eCommerce application. This role involves testing both the front-end and back-end of the application, reviewing requirements, and working with the business to ensure that requirements are complete and ready to be added to a sprint. This is a hybrid role (2 days per week in the office) based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work on the software development team on our e-Commerce application
- Articulate clear and concise test strategies, including:
- Test Plans
- User stories
- Use cases
- Regression tests
- Smoke tests
- Build automated tests and test suites.
- Review feature requirements and work with product team to clarify and refine details of stories.
- Evaluate new feature requests for clarity and risk.
- Have strong opinions on software quality.
- Partner with product owners and developers to shape and define requirements and recommend best practices that shape the quality of our software.
- Write documentation that is easy to understand by developers and non-developers alike.
- Express usability, performance, and scalability concerns.
- Evaluate and recommend tools for testing.
- Make UI recommendations.
Technologies We Use:
- Python, React, Vercel, Microsoft SQL Server, Docker, git, Playwright
Qualifications:
- Technical degree and/or comparable related experience
- Experience creating automated tests
- Experience with test automation tools like Playwright and Selenium
- Familiarity with JIRA & Confluence
- Experience with querying databases with SQL to analyze data
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have):
- 7+ years’ experience as a Software Quality Engineer
- Azure, AWS, or GCP experience
- Experience with Testrail
- Experience with CI/CD, deploying code to test systems is a plus
- Experience with Heroku
