Who You Are:
The VP, Tax Advisory will serve as a key partner to Galaxy’s Head of Tax, supporting a wide range of complex tax matters across the firm’s global platform. This role works closely with legal, finance, and business teams to provide technical tax analysis on a wide range of corporate transactions and M&A, global trading activities and financial products, investment funds and partnerships, and international operations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and brings strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills to help guide strategic decisions across Galaxy’s trading, lending, asset management, staking, and data center businesses.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide technical tax analysis and prepare legal memoranda on derivatives and financial products, M&A and general corporate tax issues, partnerships and investment funds, and international tax matters
- Support M&A and corporate transactions, including structuring, tax due diligence, drafting tax provisions, and post-closing integration
- Analyze U.S. international tax issues (e.g., Subpart F, GILTI, PFIC, transfer pricing) related to global operations across the Americas, Europe, and Asia
- Advise on partnership and fund tax matters, including tax allocations, carried interest, and asset management structures
- Evaluate tax credit and incentive programs (e.g., Qualified Opportunity Zones, energy credits) and their application to data center and partnership structures
- Research and advise on the tax treatment of derivatives, financial products, and lending with respect to digital assets and securities
- Assess tax implications of new products, business lines, and jurisdictions across federal, state & local, and international frameworks
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and communicate impacts to senior leadership
- Support tax function process improvements, automation initiatives, and integration with tax technology platforms
- Assist with audits, controversy matters, and responses to tax authority inquiries (IRS, SALT, and foreign jurisdictions)
- Embrace and champion the thoughtful adoption of AI to improve team performance and business outcomes.
- Leverage AI tools (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms, data copilots) to improve productivity, decision-making, and output quality in your day-to-day work.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience at a Big 4 or equivalent accounting firm or 3+ years at a law firm.
- Strong experience in one or more core tax areas: M&A/corporate tax, U.S. international tax, partnership/fund taxation, or financial products
- Excellent technical writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment
Bonus Points:
- J.D. or equivalent foreign law degree (LL.M. in Taxation is a plus)
- Familiarity with information reporting requirements
- Experience with digital asset taxation or blockchain-related transactions
- Proficiency in Excel and/or coding/data analysis tools

The base salary ranges included below will be commensurate with candidate experience, expertise and local market. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise. At Galaxy, we maintain a total compensation philosophy which consists of a competitive base salary, annual bonus, and equity incentives.
Base Salary Range
$160,000 - $210,000 USD
