
Investment Risk Data Consultant
SUMMARY
Market and illiquid fund ecosystem data play an important foundational role our investment process, and contribute to our investment edge. We are looking for a highly detailed and process-oriented, data management savvy team member to help enable the data-driven aspects of our investment underwriting, monitoring and performance evaluation processes. The right individual will do this by ensuring that hard-to-onboard information is appropriately collected, cared for, and input into our investment systems and processes.
The role is an excellent way for new graduates or highly competent business professionals without prior exposure to hedge fund investment and portfolio construction to collaborate directly with all of GCM's Illiquid (Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Credit) investment teams and get a hands-on introduction to the space.
As an onsite/hybrid employee, you are expected to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensuring timely and 100% accurate upload of monthly proprietary Exposure data into GCM data systems. This includes: assisting in identifying unexpected real-time data collection and/or quality gaps, and ensuring proprietarily-sourced data is received and stored according to agreed-upon timelines with fund managers.
- Assisting in reconciliation of publicly available fund database information to GCM data stores, and facilitating decisions and recommendation documentation by research teams about new investement data.
- Backloading select fund data time series into GCM Investment Data Warehouse according to pre-agreed project plan(s).
- Backloading select Private Equity portfolio company data time series into GCM investment data warehouse according to pre-agreed project plan(s).
- Producing periodic automated reporting demonstrating completion and quality status of aforementioned activities.
- Assisting with other adhoc data acquisition, upload and management tasks, capacity permitting.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong record of academic success is required.
- Solid Windows computer, data entry and management skills.
- Exceptionally strong process and detail orientations; you will find this role particularly satisfying if you find the creation and maintenance of large & detailed data sets satisfying and find the examination of periodic changes in data and trend information interesting.
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Office product suite, expert in Excel a plus.
- Comfort learning other business-related software interfaces.
- Desire and aptitude to grow knowledge about alternatives investing, hedge funds and private equity.
- Basic familiarity and/or desire and aptitude to learn basic database interaction commands (e.g. SQL,) is preferred but not required.
- Basic familiarity with investment ecosystem-related terms and concepts, e.g. returns, market value, investment asset classes, types of traded instruments, common income and balance sheet metrics is preferred but not required.

Actual base salary may vary based on factors such as individual's experience, skills, and qualifications for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on factors such as individual, team, and company performance as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
NEW YORK ANNUAL PAY RANGE
$55,000 - $85,000 USD
