Genies is looking for a Senior Engineer, Core Systems (C++) to join our Developer Platform Team. In this role, you will focus on designing, developing and optimizing our cross-platform native frameworks to enable 1st and 3rd party developers to effectively use our technologies. We aim to make it as easy as possible for a creator to bring something from their imagination to reality. This is a unique opportunity to build core pieces of Genies technology with a zero-to-one mentality. These frameworks are at the core of everything we do at Genies, so this is one of the most critical areas for the Developer Platform and entire company.

This is a high-impact role, requiring deep native development experience, mobile (iOS and Android) and web (WebGL) expertise, excellent collaboration and mentorship skills combined with a strong sense of ownership. The role reports to the Engineering Manager, and can be seated in either our SF Bay Area office (San Mateo) or Los Angeles based HQ.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Develop new systems, integrations and pipelines to help expand the platforms that are supported by our SDKs
  • Optimize our SDKs and frameworks for performance across various platforms, including mobile, desktop, VR, AR, and WebGL
  • Work with the backend team to ensure seamless integration with user data and networked environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the Developer Platform’s functionality and performance
  • Implement AI-driven features to enhance our Avatar Framework and Developer Tooling

What You Should Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
    •  Advanced degrees are a plus
  • Strong programming skills in modern C++ and experience in building native applications
  • Proven experience writing complex systems, frameworks or developer tools in modern C++
  • Familiarity with real-time rendering techniques, 3D mesh processing algorithms, and performance optimization
  • Experience with game engines like Unity and Unreal in a professional setting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience with WebGL and web-based 3D graphics development
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and animation tools such as Blender, Maya, or similar software
  • Some experience with AI and machine learning techniques for enhancing developer and creator workflows

Starting Salary Range: $200K- $250K
