Marketplace Operations Manager

About The Role

Built Technologies is the AI-first platform for construction and real estate finance, managing over $300 billion in annual capital for more than 340 lenders — including 45 of the top 100 U.S. banks. Built's Marketplace connects the capital that funds construction with the services that get projects built — inspection firms, appraisers, environmental consultants, title and closing providers, materials suppliers, and specialty diligence vendors — creating a single embedded layer where lenders, owners, and general contractors can procure, manage, and pay for project services without leaving the platform. As Built expands into new services and buyer segments, the Marketplace team needs a role that ties pricing, margin, and supply-demand balance together, setting the foundation for new service expansion.

As Marketplace Operations Manager, you'll own the commercial and cross-cutting operational backbone of the marketplace: how services get priced, how take rate and margin perform, how vendor quality is measured and rewarded, and how supply keeps pace with demand as new services launch. You'll report to Built’s Director of Operations and work closely with the Marketplace GM, as well as functional leaders across Product, Finance, and Vendor Operations. In the early stages of this function, you'll operate with significant ownership and autonomy in a role built largely from scratch. As the Marketplace scales, this role has room to grow, including the potential to build and lead a small team over time.

Our Guiding Principles

  • Be Bold. We pursue the biggest problems in our industry, challenge assumptions others take for granted, and take calculated risks to get there. We don't hide behind consensus or committees. Playing it safe is just failing slowly.
  • Help Customers Win. We learn our customers' businesses deeply — how they think, how they deploy capital, what keeps them up at night. We treat their capital like our own. We ship leverage, not features. And we measure ourselves by customer results, not our intentions.
  • Move with Urgency & Purpose. We bias toward delivery over perfection, remove friction from our own paths, and communicate in real time. Momentum compounds — and we build it every day.
  • Own the Outcome. We own outcomes, not just tasks. We hold a high Say:Do ratio and take responsibility from idea through impact. When something breaks, we fix it — we don't wait to be asked.
  • Never Satisfied. We raise the bar continuously. We stay curious, hold exacting standards, debate hard, and hold our opinions loosely when the evidence shifts. Excellence is a habit, not an event.

What You'll Do

Pricing & Margin

  • Design and build Built Marketplace's pricing frameworks - the reusable models that determine how new services get priced as the marketplace expands into new categories - and apply those frameworks to new services.
  • Lead pricing analysis and recommendations for Built's growing managed-services offerings, balancing competitiveness against margin.
  • Own and report on marketplace take rate and margin performance across every active service, the primary commercial health metric for the marketplace, diagnosing and designing corrective action for margin underperformance by service, geography, or vendor segment.
  • Partner with Finance on cost-to-serve instrumentation, keeping pricing and cost data connected.

Supply-Demand Liquidity

  • Monitor whether the marketplace has adequate, well-matched vendor supply — by service, geography, and price point — to meet buyer demand.
  • Own vendor tiering and ratings criteria (including 'Built preferred' designations).
  • Direct supply-growth priorities for Built's Vendor Operations team and partnerships function, based on where liquidity gaps exist.
  • Monitor and diagnose penetration, working with colleagues across Account Management and Customer Success to ensure buyers fully utilize the services they’re contracted for.

New-Service Launch & Process Standardization

  • Build the frameworks that let Built launch new marketplace services on a consistent, repeatable operating model instead of a one-off, improvised process each time.
  • Own pattern-recognition across new-service launches. When the same operational gap shows up more than once, turn it into standard process rather than leaving it to be re-solved each time.
  • Serve as the marketplace's cross-cutting operational voice, partnering with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Vendor Operations to keep commercial and operational decisions connected as the marketplace scales.
  • Act as the point of resolution for cross-side billing or dispute questions that don't fit neatly into a single team's ownership.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in business operations, pricing/commercial strategy, or strategic finance. Experience at a marketplace, fintech, or B2B SaaS company strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience designing pricing models, commercial frameworks, or margin-management systems.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, and experience with data visualization tools such as Sigma, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Track record partnering with senior stakeholders on commercial decisions with real P&L impact.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills. This role sits at the intersection of Marketplace Operations, Product, Finance, and vendor/customer-facing teams.
  • Comfort building frameworks from ambiguous, unstructured problems with no existing playbook, and moving between strategic design work and hands-on execution.
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with construction finance, lending, or real estate.

What Success Looks Like at Six Months

  • Built's pricing framework is fully designed, documented, and has been successfully applied to at least one new service or managed-service offering.
  • You've stood up baseline visibility into marketplace liquidity (supply adequacy by service/geography) and take-rate/margin performance, and they’re regularly used by leadership to assess marketplace health.
  • At least one recurring new-service launch gap has been turned into a standard, repeatable process.
  • You're recognized as Built's go-to owner for marketplace commercial and cross-cutting operational questions.

AI & Technology Expectations

  • Leverage AI tools to enhance the productivity, quality, and speed of your work.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort through automation and AI.
  • Apply AI to sharpen decision-making and strengthen strategic insights.
  • Share effective AI use cases and best practices with your team.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
