Experiential Writer Intern (Summer)

New York

We are excited to have an Experiential Writer Intern join our team for 10 weeks this summer (June 3rd to August 8th)! This role will work alongside the Giant Spoon creative team and partner with an Environmental Design intern to bring live experiences to life for our clients’ brands. The ideal candidate understands the fundamentals of experiential concepting and execution from stunts to large scale activations and strives to make highly engaging and original things. We are looking for a creative mind with a passion for conceptual thinking and integrated campaign work, who is eager to collaborate with other like-minded people to create brand-defining experiential campaigns that go beyond the IRL with strategic digital and social extensions. Equal parts creative and strategy, you will be able to create compelling experiences with laser sharp insights into the brand.

As a Giant Spoon intern, you will be welcome to join any town halls, weekly updates, lunches and happy hours during the summer. As part of the program, we will also be offering a series of workshops and Q&As with craft leads to gain insights into the day to day of neighboring departments.

This team is based in the New York office and works in a hybrid fashion with in-office work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the ideation of highly engaging experiences including brainstorming, light moodboarding, and production vetting.
  • Once a concept is approved by our client, work alongside the Creative team to actually make the work — collaborating with the Design and Production Department to keep the integrity of the creative.
  • Work hand in hand with ACD and other Creative team members to develop presentations for approval by CDs and leadership. This includes the ideas as well as the messaging and written copy throughout the deck.
  • Ideate within the realities and parameters of what can be executed within the given timeline and budget and work with Experiential Production to present work that is cutting-edge but feasible.
  • Write experiential copy, inclusive of headlines/taglines, consumer journeys, OOH, environmental signage, etc., ensuring all align with the voice of the client.
  • Present the work to creative leads and internal teams whenever needed.
  • Create a Spoonshot project (a mini-presentation on a relevant topic) in collaboration with other interns that will be presented internally at Giant Spoon

Requirements

  • Pursuing a career in [experiential] advertising, design and marketing, with a focus on conceptual creative work
  • Foundational understanding of concepting, campaign architecture, and short form writing
  • Strong motivation to learn about “big idea” generation, conceptual thinking (brainstorming, campaign development), and cross-channel creative execution
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Digitally connected, passionate about technology and innovation with an insatiable curiosity for how it applies to our industry
  • Experience working with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets) a plus
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite a plus

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $18.00-20.00. The rate is determined based on a wide range of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, job duties, and geographic location.
