PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
VENGOAL is implementing a multi-year program to support and strengthen the capacity of local NGOs in the Northern Andean region to provide quality maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) services and improve maternal health knowledge, practices and outcomes, neonatal and infant quality in indigenous, mining and/or mining-affected communities. This position is open to Venezuelan residents/citizens only and will be based in Caracas, Venezuela.
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
- Provide direct support to the Project Director and collaborate with the Program Manager in the overall coordination and implementation of the ELLA Project
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ROLES
- Under the overall vision and supervision of the Project Director, supports and oversees the quality, cost-effectiveness, technical direction, management oversight, and timelines of the implementation of activities to ensure that the ELLA project meets its objectives and results
- Provides operational and technical input and oversight of all project focus areas as needed, specifically regarding Mobile Clinics and SBC program activities
- Coordinates operational and technical input from the project team into consortium and donor updates, reports, and workplans under direction of the Project Director and in collaboration with the Program Manager
- Provides coordination support and oversight to Administrative, Logistics, Finance, Human Resources, and Procurement functions and priorities, ensuring coordination between the project team and operations and support units in VENGOAL.
- Promotes team collaboration and identifies synchronization and collaboration opportunities across technical and operations (logistics, procurement, HR and finance) teams.
- Conduct periodic visits to local partners and project implementation sites to assess progress and address any issues.
- As delegated by the Project Director, represents the project to key NGOs and private sector stakeholders and beneficiaries or to other partners organizations and supports overall local partners relations & management in collaboration with the Partnership Lead and the Project Director.
- As delegated by the Project Director, liaises with other local organizations to facilitate cooperation, collaboration, and partnerships.
- As delegated by the Project Director, contributes to efforts by reviewing and assessing workplan and budget activities with the Program Manager and technical and operations teams to ensure progress and achievement of desired results and impact.
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination between team members and local partners.
- Performs other duties as delegated by Project Director.
MINIMUM REQUIRED PROFILE
- This is a local position for nationals only.
Professional Studies:
- Professional with a bachelor's degree in social or health sciences, with a specialty in Public Health and Certificate in Project Management.
Professional experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in field program management, intermediate.
- Knowledge of donor regulations and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team in two or more of the following areas: MNCH, SBC, Nutrition, MEAL.
- Experience in proposal development, reporting, strategic partnerships, project design, project management, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience in partner training, staff development, coaching and mentoring, as well as team building and strategic planning initiatives.
- Experience using MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), web conferencing applications, information management systems and knowledge sharing networks.
- Knowledge of spoken and written English
Knowledge/skills:
- Excellent strategic, analytical, systems thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to see the big picture and make sound judgments and decisions.
- Strong relationship management skills. Ability to relate to people at all levels, internally and externally. Strategic in the way you approach each relationship.
- Experience in leading/coordinating grant processes and reporting to donors.
- Knowledge and experience in MNCH program areas.
- Demonstrated ability to work both strategically and at an appropriate level of detail to lead projects and with excellent analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand best practices and challenges at the sector level,
- Excellent partnership skills and ability to interact effectively with donors, collaborating agencies and local partners.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Proactive, resourceful, solution and results oriented.
- Flexibility, persistence and ability to work with people and cross-cultural skills.
COORDINATION
The professional will report to and coordinate their activities with the Project Director and support overall coordination with the Program Manager and project consortium.
RESOURCES
- For the development of the activities will assign you the necessary equipment.
- The employee will have a physical space available to work in the VENGOAL office in Caracas.
