About the Role: As the Head of Revenue Accounting at GoGuardian, you will be a key member of the finance team responsible for overseeing all aspects of revenue accounting. This role requires a deep understanding of billing systems and revenue with the ability to communicate accounting requirements effectively across various levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will have an operational background with a technical mindset to ensure billing processes align with accounting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper revenue recognition under ASC 606 and provide guidance to various teams (Accounting, FP&A, Sales, Sales Operations, and Legal). Collaborate with deal desk, legal, and sales ops teams for accurate and timely transactions
- Own and manage the revenue month end, quarter end, and year end processes
- Review and analyze contracts, including pricing/SSP analysis. Ensure invoices are prepared according to contract terms and review documentation for correct invoicing and revenue recognition. Advise on customer setup for new deals
- Verify and process customer credits and write-offs. Manage accounts receivable team to maintain a clean subsidiary ledger, timely cash collections, transaction recording, and reconciliations
- Maintain and enhance existing systems, documentation, and communication of new/updated processes
- Lead and mentor the revenue and AR team members - providing guidance, training, and support to foster a high-performance work environment
- Champion continuous improvement in revenue, accounts receivable, and reporting processes through data-driven improvement cycles. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data, identify opportunities, and implement changes
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation
- Experience working in a growing technology company with a SaaS, consulting, and training services business model
- Experience in all aspects of the Quote-to-Cash cycle, with a focus on contract review, billing, collections and revenue recognition
- Deep understanding of software revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Experience with Sage Intacct, Salesforce CPQ, Avalara Avatax, or similar systems
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a desire to drive process improvements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical accounting concepts into business operations
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment for a rapidly growing business
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a private equity owned business
- Mix of both public accounting and SaaS company experience
The typical base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000 per year. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base pay for this position and your pay will be determined by a variety of factors, including your primary work location, skills, qualifications and experience.
