Public Address Announcer (GSV)

About the Position

The Golden State Group are looking for a Public Address Announcer to support the in-arena experience for Golden State Warriors, Golden State Valkyries, and the Santa Cruz Warriors.

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals with a professional demeanor. In this role, you will be a brand ambassador and the in-arena voice that informs fans about situations from game action, as well as support other fan engagement elements.

This is a part-time position based in San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate all announcements, including but not limited to game action updates, sponsor messaging, ceremonies, and recognitions
  • Understand accurate pronunciation of player’s names, as well as the rules and flow of basketball
  • Organize team information, such as statistics, line ups, player substitutions, in order to provide timely announcements and ensure announcements align with overall production
  • Promote a positive fan experience and work as part of a creative production team
  • Attend non-game day and offseason events as one of the voices of the designated team, including potential community and sponsored events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years of experience working as an announcer in professional or major collegiate sports; including a minimum of 2 years experience in basketball
  • Comfortable announcing to large crowds of all ages and announcing complex names from a variety of ethnic backgrounds
  • Excellent knowledge of basketball, including rules, positions, customs, rosters, and other game related statistics
  • Strong vocal talent with a unique and definitive personality
  • Ability to multi-task and make timely adjustments in a stressful environment

Time Commitment

  • Ability to attend all home game events including early rehearsals and/or pre-game meetings
  • Able to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays

Compensation

  • $120.00 per hour

Submissions

Submissions must include a resume and a performance reel (no longer than 3 minutes in length). Videos are mandatory with application submission. Video submissions should include candidates’ ability to communicate in-game updates following the play of a game. Visuals of the announcer are not needed, but game action would be ideal. We recommend a format of unlisted YouTube, Google Drive or other cloud-access link for video submissions.

Key Dates

Invitations will be sent to potential candidates that are invited to attend an in-arena audition, targeted to be held in mid-March.
