Content Director, Golden State Entertainment

About the Position

Golden State Entertainment (GSE) is the entertainment and content vertical under the larger company umbrella that encompasses the seven-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, Golden State Valkyries, Santa Cruz Warriors, and Chase Center. As Content Director, you will oversee and develop original content to tell compelling stories that are both rooted in and transcend the world of sports and entertainment. In this role, you will develop and produce unscripted and scripted programming that explores the intersections of sports, culture, and entertainment. This position reports to the Chief Commercial Officer.

This is a full-time position based in Los Angeles, CA with frequent travel to San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the direction and development of GSE’s content strategy and execution across a variety of marketing touchpoints
  • Identify, source, and create commercial content for GSE
  • Develop and implement innovative story ideas and formats that resonate with our audience and transcend basketball
  • Inspire the voice of the GSE brand across mediums
  • Hire and lead external talent (i.e., freelancers, creative agencies, vendors, etc.), ensuring alignment with project requirements, quality standards, and business objectives
  • Oversee budgets for external resources by tracking expenses, allocating resources efficiently, and negotiating rates for long-term partnerships
  • Define best practices to optimize production pipeline, driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stay abreast of market trends, identify potential clients, and explore partnership opportunities
  • Represent GSE brand in marketplace
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration/Communications, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years in content creation, film production or content strategy; 5 years supervisory experience leading creative teams
  • Exceptional leadership and relationship skills with extensive experience working with internal and external teams (artists, writers, producers, directors, agents, etc.)
  • Extensive experience leading creative work (design, copywriting, video production)
  • Master storyteller; ability to conceptualize, present, network, inspire and influence
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets
  • Highly organized, process, and detail oriented with exceptional grammatical, writing, and editorial skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple simultaneous projects

Time Commitment

  • Ability to work evening and weekends as necessary

Compensation

  • $190,000 - 200,000 + Bonus
