Fire Safety Monitor

About the Position

We are looking for proactive and energetic individuals to join our Fire Safety Monitor team to ensure fire-safety during events at the Chase Center.

In this role, you will provide temporary surveillance to all areas at Chase Center for the purposes of identifying and controlling fire and life safety hazards, early signs of unwanted fire, initiating alarms/evacuation procedures, and notifying the fire department to prevent further damages to life and the arena.

This is a part-time position based onsite in San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Remain on duty during the times when we open to the public and/or when regulated activities are being conducted
  • Maintain communication (portable radios, cellphones, etc.) with supervisor and other fire watch personnel
  • Extinguish fires immediately or activate the fire alarm system as needed
  • Keep flammable/combustible materials away from ignition sources
  • Keep diligent watch for smoke and fires and follow the process to notify the San Francisco Fire Department as needed
  • Identify and use the building life safety equipment (fire extinguishers, building hoses, etc.) when needed
  • Keep diligent watch for crowd density problems and alleviate overcrowding
  • Other duties as assigned by Director, Safety and Training

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a permanently appointed firefighter or above in a major metropolitan fire jurisdiction
  • Physically able to maneuver quickly within the facility and utilize available fire suppression equipment to extinguish small fires
  • Strong communication, including written, verbal, and public speaking skills

Time Commitment

  • Available to work overnights, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Compensation

  • $30.00 per hour
