About the Role:
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building the core geospatial infrastructure for our FleetOps platform. As part of this role, you will build high-throughput services that ingest, process, and analyze real-time location data to power critical fleet management features.
We are looking for strong engineers to build our location intelligence stack and deliver best-in-class accuracy and performance for geospatial services. This team is responsible for:
(a) Processing high-volume GPS telemetry and ensuring data integrity at scale
(b) Building advanced geospatial features, including complex geofencing and spatial indexing
(c) Implementing efficient algorithms for intelligent routing and reverse geocoding (d) Architecting distributed systems that handle massive datasets with low latency and high availability.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and scale geospatial data models and improve system performance to handle massive volumes of incoming GPS telemetry.
- Design scalable API interfaces that allow internal applications and external services to efficiently query location, routing, and geofencing data.
- Integrate with mapping technologies, demonstrating the ability to quickly learn and utilize tools like Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, or geospatial libraries (e.g., PostGIS).
- Optimize for scale and cost, building software that processes high-throughput location streams efficiently, reducing infrastructure overhead while maintaining data freshness.
- Ensure system health by building appropriate monitoring, logging, and debugging tools to track latency, accuracy, and reliability of location services.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to translate complex geospatial challenges into deliverable features.
- Actively work on our AWS cloud infrastructure to support distributed systems and real-time data processing pipelines.
- Mentor and learn from the developers within the engineering organization, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
What We’re Looking For:
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field
- 4+ years software development experience
- Experience building product infrastructure, distributed systems and data models
- Experience in Ruby on Rails, Go Lang, Java, Javascript/Node.js or similar language
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and Cassandra
- Experience building for Cloud Infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, Azure or private clouds
